LAILA WALKED AROUND THE
carnival, the colourful lights shining on her face as she looked around.
She was on her own, but she didn't mind one bit, enjoying her own company.

Her hair was in loose curls, swaying down her back, her eyes painted a bit darker and her lips adorned their usual bright red lipstick.

Laila's outfit was striking and a little different from her usual Nevermore look.
She wore a bright red corset top that hugged her figure, adding a bold pop of color, that matched her lips and hair.
Over it, she had a dark, loose jacket that hung off her shoulders, giving her a relaxed, cool vibe.
A pleated gray skirt finished the look, adding a hint of schoolgirl style.

The mix of red and gray made her stand out even more, adding to the mystery around her.

And a certain boy noticed it too as he stopped talking to Tyler, only focusing on her as everything around him blurred into nothingness.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
His heart started to beat in an almost hurting way, causing him to press his hand against his chest.
Yet he couldn't take his eyes off her and how she simply walked around on her own, looking this ethereal.

Wednesday never thought the color red would grow on him this quickly or any color in general.
And suddenly he loved red.
His new favourite color!

"Wednesday—are you okay?", Tyler asked, confused that the boy suddenly spaced out.
He followed his eyes and they landed on Laila,"Woah! She looks so—"

"I wouldn't finish that if I were you.", the calm threat escaped Wednesday's mouth, but he didn't dare to move his eyes away.
"You know what? I won't leave, but thanks for the offer."

And before Tyler could utter a word, the Addams boy went towards Laila, halting next to her—

Maybe his mother was right about soulmates?

"Laila.", the boy stated, making Laila turn around as she looked at him with a shocked expression.

She pointed her finger at him warningly,"You need to stop doing that."

Wednesday looked at her with a small
frown,"I didn't mean to scare you."

She matched his frown and sighed,"I'm joking, don't worry."

"You look beautiful.", the boy blurted out, ignoring the heat that spread on his face at his bold words.

A blush coated Laila's cheeks as she smiled softly at the boy,"Thank you, so do you."

Wednesday gave her a ghost of a smile as he held out his arm to her.
She looked at him shocked, but hooked her arm with his nevertheless.
They walked around the carnival in silence, merely enjoying the presence of the other.

And suddenly Wednesday understood his father's behaviour towards his mother—

"So are you and Tyler friends? I saw you two.", Laila asked as she offered Wednesday some cotton candy, which he declined.
