~A few days later~*Duskpaw's POV*
It had been a few days since the Gathering, and the latest prophecy is what all of ShadowClan has been talking about.
Especially since BloodClan is involved.
I have been told about the Battle Against BloodClan. Especially how Scourge was able to kill the first Tigerstar, who had nine lives, in one blow. That's why all the Clans fear BloodClan cats that are like Scourge. Even SkyClan and StormClan, and they weren't even there.
'They have a right to fear BloodClan. But who are the Twins of Time the prophecy talked about?' I wondered.
I was out where the Greenleaf twoleg dens tend to be.
"We have to find a way to restore Jay's memories." I heard someone said.
I hid in some bushes just before a pair of twolegs walked into the clearing.
They were both male.
But one had white and black fur on top of his head and a patch of black fur on his chin. He had a gray and tan removable pelt.
The other had brown fur on top of his head and his eyes were covered by a strange red Twoleg object. He had a white and red removable pelt.
"I sure hope so." The Twoleg with brown fur said to the other one. I was surprised that I was able to understand them. The sound Twolegs make is usually just gibberish. 'How is it I'm able to understand them as if they were cats?' I wondered as they continued to talk to each other.
"Poor Nya. First her brother passed away. Now, her Yin loses his memories. And Jay was already manipulated twice because of his memory loss. There's no telling who would take advantage of Jay next if we don't find out how he lost his memory so we can restore them." The second Twoleg, who I learned was named Griffin, said to the first one, who I learned was named Neuro.
As I listened to them talk, I realized that this Jay was this Nya's version of a mate.
'And he lost his memories and bad Twolegs are taking advantage of him because! StarClan, that's messed up!' I thought with a twitch of my tail. Unfortunately, that single twitch caused the leaves of the bush to rustle and gain the attention of the two Twolegs.
Before they could start coming my way, I quickly darted out from under the bush and started running back towards Camp.
But I didn't get far before I was picked up into the air somehow. I turned to face the being who picked me up and saw that it was Griffin. 'How did he catch me so fast? No Twoleg can catch a cat running as fast as I was!' I thought with slight fear and something deep down that told me that these weren't ordinary Twolegs.
"Hey! Neuro! I think this is one of the feral cats that we were told that lived around here!" Griffin said as Neuro came up to us.
I then scratched at the Twoleg's paw and continued to run when I landed. I decided to head towards the tunnel where the 'Find your way through the dark' takes is always held. Since I couldn't return to camp without leading the Twolegs there.
When I got there, I quickly dived in.
I stopped when I knew I was deep enough to prevent them from grabbing me again.
"Do you think the cat's in there?" I heard Giffin's voice said from outside the tunnel entrance. I didn't hear Neuro reply until a minute later. "He is. I can hear his thoughts." Neuro replied, causing to freak out a bit.
'He can hear my thoughts?! How!? Something tells me that these aren't ordinary Twolegs!' I thought with slight fear.
I stayed there for a few minutes until I heard them leave. But I continued to stay there until I was more than sure that they were gone.
I edged my way out of the tunnel, making sure that the strange Twolegs weren't hiding, until I ran back to camp. But not before rolling in a mint patch a bit to get the slight smell of twolegs out of my pelt.
When I entered the camp, I saw my father, Batripple, and my mother, Yarrowleaf, talking to each other with my older half-siblings, Flaxfoot and Hopwhisker.
I was about to walk up to them when my mentor, Snaketooth, called me over.
"Yeah, Snaketooth?" I said when I stopped in front of her. "We're going to the RiveClan border. Some dogs were sighted close to there, and we might need to redo the scent markers." She explained to me. I nodded my head in understanding before we headed to the entrance and started heading towards the RiverClan border.
"Hey! Why don't we work on your maneuvering skills and speed on the way? You never know when an unexpected fox or badger comes along." She said.
I nodded my head before we broke into a run.
As we maneuvered our way to the RiverClan border, my thought continued to return to the strange Twolegs I encountered no matter what I did to try to get my thoughts off of them. 'How was that Griffin Twoleg was able to catch me so fast? And how was Neuro able to hear my thoughts?' I continued to wonder.
I was so deep in thought that I didn't hear Snaketooth calling his name until I fell underwater.
I tried to move back above water, but couldn't because this had never happened to me before. 'Oh, great! I always end up in trouble every time there's a mystery I want to solve and I end up so deep in thought that I ignore everything around me.' I thought before I faintly heard a splash coming from above me.
I then felt someone grab my scruff and pull me to the surface.
When I reached the solid ground of the bank, I saw that the cat who saved me was Rainpaw.
"Thanks for saving me." I said to her.
"Don't mention it. You know I'll always keep my kin safe." She said to me.
I nodded my head in understanding as she helped me to my paws.
I always seem to sort of forget that she's my kin because my mother is her grandmother's, Berryheart's, sister.
I looked over and saw the Snaketooth and the RiverClan patrol that Rainpaw was apart of were talking to each other. Most likely about the dogs.
So I decided that now was the perfect time to tell Rainpaw what happened.
And that's what I did.
"You sure you go there name's right?" She asked me after I finished explaining. "Yeah. Why?" I asked her, noticing the surprise, concern, and shocked look on her face.
She looked like she was about to talk again when Lizardtail, a member of the patrol she was on, called to her and said they were going to finish their patrol. She nodded her head before returning to her patrol.
I then returned to Snaketooth and we continued to redo the ShadowClan scent markers that were ruined because of the dogs.
As we did, I couldn't stop wondering that Rainpaw might be hiding something from everyone, including her own kin.
And it had something to do with those Twolegs.
'I wonder what she's hiding. And now I can help but think she also knows something about these mysterious Twins of Time the prophecy mentioned.'
