Chapter 24

August 21, end of summer

Draco Malfoy

I felt anger and betrayal as I read Blaise's letter.

He is not coming back. When we needed him the most he was turning his back on us. What the fuck could be so special about that school that he couldn't come back for his family?

"What did he say" Theo asks as he takes the letter. Disappointment makes his way to his face.

"He's fucking abandoning us" I growl.

"Draco you're being dramatic he's still coming back. He's just choosing not to come back this early." Theo waves me off, rolling his eyes.

"BUT WHY THE FUCK WOULD HE WANNA STAY THERE WITH ALL THOSE FUCKING MUGGLES IF HE ALREADY KNOWS HOW TO CONTROL HIS POWERS. HE ALREADY LEARNED HOW TO CONTROL THEM SO WHAT THE FUCK IS KEEPING HIM THERE" I shouted into the air.

Before Theo could respond the door bust open. Enzo, Mattheo and Tom at the door. Enzo's face was nervous and confused, usually it would've bothered me to see his face, especially knowing that him and Lucille are fucking. They think I don't know but I do. I just don't care cause I don't want her. I just don't care what they do anymore.

Mattheo's expression was confused and annoyed while Tom's expression was emotionless. I knew he cared at least somewhat, but Tom was never one to show his feelings.

"why the fuck are you yelling?" Mattheo question coming into the room.

"Blaze has decided he does not want to come back so soon" I growled pacing the room.

"what why" Enzo questioned as he took the letter from Theo.

"it doesn't fucking say there's literally no explanation. He just said what he said, and that was it." I responded running my hands along my face roughly.

"He's abandoning us"I say again.

"he is not abandoning us Draco, He has his reasons why he can't come home right now. We're his family he would never abandon us and you know that Draco." Theo's voice was filled with frustration as he tried his best to defend Blaise.

"do you know something we don't" Tom question, his voice accusingly.

"No Tom, I don't know anything you don't know. He's my best friend and I'm willing to see the best in him" I lied straight through my teeth.

I would never do that to Blaise. Yes of course I loved everybody standing in this room but my friendship with Blaise ran much deeper.

I stormed out of the room before they could ask many more questions. They were being unreasonable right now. How could they just believe that blaise would abandon us if not for something important.

"Hello Theodore"said the dreamily far away voice behind me.

I stopped immediately and slowly turned around. She was as beautiful as she was yesterday and the day before that. Her platinum blonde hair in a neat ponytail coming down her shoulder. Her weird looking glasses resting on her forehead, she was holding a paper in her hand and she had no shoes on.

"Merlin Luna, where are your shoes?" I asked rubbing my forehead.

"I've seen to misplaced them... do you mind helping me find them?" She smiled softly, the moonlight shining of her skin in the corridor. There was always something different about her from the other girls, though it was a beautiful different a lot of people have seen it to be a very uncomfortable different.

"come on let's find your shoes" I say, holding my hand out to her to which she immediately grabs. The next hour and a half is spent with her telling me random stories, I couldn't be more happy to spend this time with her, especially knowing it's about to go down.

"Hope listen I know that you've been distancing yourself from me because you're leaving and you don't wanna get too attached"

"Landon, that's not the reas-" I tried my best to stop him before he could continue.

"no Hope it is, I can tell you don't wanna leave, but you're doing this for Athena. You don't have to do this, You don't have to follow behind her. You can stay here where you're happy. I love you Hope I need you to stay...please" He looked at me with such pleading eyes, begging for me to choose him.
He thought that I was leaving just for Athena, but he never realized was I was also leaving for me. I want a new start, I wanna start fresh where nobody knows me.

"Landon, the reason why I've been so distance is because I don't wanna be with you. You're not my soulmate Landon I cannot love you forever. I don't even love you at all. I'm not only leaving for Athena, but I'm leaving for me" I watched as the hope in his eyes slowly died. Maybe I shouldn't have waited so long to tell him, but I don't know what else to say.

"why are you doing this right now?" he whispered, I could practically hear his feelings in his voice. I almost felt bad. Almost.

"We're not going to sit here and go down the list of reasons why I'm leaving let alone breaking up with you" I tried my best to keep my voice emotionless. I didn't wanna be having this conversation. It would hurt the both of us too much, some more than others.

"is it because I'm not strong the way you are?, Because my powers aren't in really physical?" he was getting loud, I looked around to see a few people looking at us in the courtyard. Gosh, he could be so embarrassing sometimes.

"like I said Landon, we are not having this conversation" my voice was stern before I got up and walked away. If I stay too long, my anger would get the best of me.

I really hope that this decision I'm making is worth it because I would hate to have to regret it. Especially when I've been so nasty about it. In a few days, we are leaving and before we leave, I don't want there to be anything tying me to this place.

Athena was truly the only thing I needed in life. With her I could survive anything. We are more of sisters rather than cousins, and she was truly all I needed, her and Blaise. I have grown to see him as a brother, it would hurt me to say anything bad happened to him. I would protect the both of them with my life.
