As Jay guided Mishika to her room, she hobbled a little, still struggling with her lehenga and awkwardly holding her arms away from her body to protect the wet mehendi. He kept his grip on her elbow firm, making sure she didn’t trip.

“There you go,” Jay said, pushing open the door for her. “Safe and sound.”

Mishika stepped inside and turned to face him, giving a small sigh of relief. “Finally! Lagta hai aaj hi duniya khatam hone wali thi.”

Jay chuckled. “Mehendi lagwane ka shauk kam karna padega, Miss Mission Impossible.”

“Tumhe toh bas mazaak udana aata hai,” she muttered, scrunching her nose but unable to hide the hint of amusement in her voice.

Jay shook his head with a grin, stepping back slightly toward the hallway. “Accha, ab rest karo. Main chalta hoon.”

Just as he turned to leave, Mishika’s voice stopped him in his tracks. “Jay…”

He looked over his shoulder. “Haan?”

Mishika hesitated for a brief moment, biting her lower lip nervously, but then, as if gathering every bit of courage, she blurted, “I like you too.”

Jay froze, his eyes widening in surprise. “What?”

Mishika shifted on her feet, her cheeks flushing slightly. “Haan… I like you too.” She looked away awkwardly, as if regretting saying it out loud but knowing she couldn’t take it back now.

For a moment, Jay was at a complete loss for words. His mind replayed the words "I like you too" again and again, trying to process what had just happened.

“You… too?” he repeated, blinking in disbelief, almost as if he had misheard her.

Mishika rolled her eyes, her nervousness now turning into irritation. “Haan, haan, tumne sahi suna. Ab jaa rahe ho ya aur kuch clarification chahiye?”

Jay couldn’t help but laugh at her defensive tone, his heart suddenly feeling lighter. “Well, this is… unexpected.”

Mishika crossed her arms, careful not to touch her mehendi. “Tum kya soch rahe the? Sirf tumhe yeh privilege hai?”

Jay took a step closer, his smirk softening into a warm smile. “To be honest, I didn’t expect you to admit it this soon.”

Mishika raised an eyebrow. “Aur tum kya expect kar rahe the? Ke main khud bhi confuse rahungi?”

He chuckled, shaking his head. “Nah. I just thought tum thoda aur attitude dikhaogi.”

Mishika narrowed her eyes at him. “Mujhe laga, jitna already dikha diya, woh kaafi tha.”

Jay smiled, unable to hide the joy bubbling within him. “I guess tum mujhe har cheez mein surprise karne wali ho, huh?”

She gave him a playful smirk. “Buckle up, Mr. Jay. This is just the beginning.”

Jay shook his head in disbelief, still grinning. “I like surprises.”

Mishika tilted her head slightly, her expression softening for a moment. “Good. Ab jao, warna mehendi dry nahi hui toh tum responsible ho.”

Jay gave her a small nod and, with one last glance, stepped back into the hallway. But even as he left, his heart raced, knowing that things between them had just taken a turn neither of them had fully expected—yet neither of them would forget.
