At exactly 2:55 p.m., Aleeza got a call, quickly grabbed her scarf, and headed downstairs. I thought, She must be meeting her mom. But at 3:00 p.m., she was back—with Nirma, Amna, Maryam, and Alishba, all holding a cake and singing, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUU!"
I was scrolling my phone, looked up in surprise, and laughed, "What's going on? Again? How many times are we celebrating this birthday?" ( oh bhaii!! kitni baar surprise kerogay)
Then, with huge smiles, they said, "This one's from your mom!"
For a second, I couldn't believe it. How did she manage this?
My hands started to shake, and tears welled up. It felt like my mom was right there with me. I couldn't stop thanking Allah for blessing me with such thoughtful family and friends.
They explained how my mom had been in touch with them, planning every little detail, even coordinating the exact time. Suddenly, I realized why Aleeza's contact had mysteriously changed to "Alizay co Hiba" on my phone—it was all part of their plan!
We cut the cake again, and I couldn't help but feel so grateful to my friends for going above and beyond, even with their busy schedules. As wonderful as it was, I couldn't help laughing at my own disheveled look. "If only I'd known! I would've dressed up a little!" I joked, imagining the dramatic surprise photos with my hair all messy.
Then my sister and friends started filling me in on all the secret planning behind the scenes—now it all made sense why my siblings were practically ordering me to change last night!
It's one of those days that makes you feel like you're on top of the world. But there's also a reminder to stay humble and grateful for these moments. I can't help but think, I'm so happy today—I just hope this laughter and joy stay with me tomorrow, too.
It's time to focus on becoming the best version of myself, working hard, and living up to the hopes my parents have for me. Insha'Allah!
