Jack's P.O.V.

As we drove to the surprise party Zack and I had planned for Alex my nerves continued to increase. I am ready to propose tonight, I was going to wait until our anniversary, but I can't. "Hey babe, can we stop at a gas station so I can go potty?" Alex asked with an innocent look. I laughed and nodded. "Yeah, there's one in about a block. We need gas anyway." I secretly rejoiced, because this meant I could call Zack and check up on things. We stopped and he ran inside. I pulled out my phone and started to pump gas. He answers. "Oh thank god. Are you guys on your way?" I laugh. "Yeah, we got.. umm.. distracted." Zack laughs. "Umm. gross. But I hope you're going to be here in ten?" I smile as I see Alex walking back. "Yeah of course, he's coming back, see you soon." I hang up quickly as I can. Alex comes and hugs me from behind as I put the gas pump back. "You're the best. You know that right?" I smile and turn to face him. "No. You are the best." He snuggles into my chest. "We should go home and gwt ready for dinner." I say to him.He nods. "Yeah." We climb in the car. I pull a bandana out of my pocket. "Okay, change of plans, do you trust me?" He looks me in the eye. "What do you have planned, I know that look, your mischievous look." I laugh. "Can you just put this on?" He smiles. "Okay."

I drive us to the club that we have reserved for the party, Alex grips my hand tighter as we stop. "Are we here?" He says excitedly. I laugh. "Yes, now let me come grab that door for you handsome." I lean over and kiss his blushing cheek as I climb out. "You are adorable." I say out loud. I run over to his side and grab the door, sending a quick text to Zack to tell him wr will be inside in a matter of minutes. and I grab his hand and guide him up, and start walking him to the door. "Okay, promise me you won't be too mad." Alex stops. "WHAT DID YOU DO!?" He yells with a smile. I pull him the few inches to the door. I pull of the bandana, and Alex blinks. "You're taking me to a club?" I would much rather go home, and invite Zack and Jenna over and throw back some beers, and play Jeopardy." I take both of his hands in mine. "Do you trust me?" He looks deep into my eyes, and caresses my cheek. "With all that I have." I kiss him, for I fear my emotions, over the sweetness of the statement will overwhelm me and make me crack. I pull back and rest my forehead against his. "Then open the door, and take this don't open it until I say so." I whisper handing him an envelope. He nods, puts it in his jacket pocket, and smiles, then grabs the handle.

Alex's P.O.V.

I grab the handle of the door and pull it open. The door opens and I step into the darkness. I reach for Jack's hand behind me. "Ummm. Jack?" I question gripping his hand. I hear him chuckle. "I am right here." He pulls me to him, but as I am about to curl into him the lights shoot on. Jack smiles down at me, and grabs my shoulders and turns me. I turn and hear "SURPRISE!" Being shouted, and see Zack standing in front of a stage, and a table with gifts, with tons of people mingling around. "Happy Birthday Man!" He smiles and spreads his arms for a hug. Jack pushes me toward him. He runs off somewhere. I run to Zack and tear up on his chest. "You did all of this for me!?" Zack smiles as he lets go. "Actually, Thank Jack. He put all of this together, I was just here to keep the party together,while Jack kept you busy. I smile, searching for him. "Your my best friend, I would do anything for you, I love you man and Happy Birthday." I smile as I hear a tap on the mic. Zack and I look up at the stage.
Jack is on the stage. "Now that he is here let's get this party started. Happy Birthday Alex!" He shouts and raises his beer as a toast. I smile up at him from my spot. I am so in love with this man. "This is all for you baby, I hope your 23rd is amazing! Zack and I wanted to do this to make your day special." I look to my left and see Zack M.I.A. I was so focused on Jack.... Suddenly Zack is on stage with Jack. "So on this stage we will have entertainment from some local bands, and a surprise band for you later. But without a further damn ado the first band of the night is Sun Club!" (A/N real Baltimore based band.) I watch as a local band I have heard play once or twice. Comes on and wish me happy birthday before they start. I smile and go find food and beer, I am snacking, and nursing a beer as I mingle with the guests. Running into everyone I know, plus some new people. "Hey!" Rian and Cass sneak up on me, and I hug them, beaming, excited to see them. "Hi Guys! Thanks for coming." Rian claps me on the back. "Dude. You're family now... you mean the world to Jack, and you grew on us of course! Besides Jack would have my ass if we didn't show!" We all laughed, I wondered where he and Zack rann off to. "Not to mention, A night of food, beer, and music? Hell Yes!" Cass piped in. I smiled. "Hey! You can't avoid me.." I hear Jenna say to us as she waddles over. A grin appears on my face. I am sooooo excited to see her."Hey there Mama!" Cass smiles, and runs over to Jenna. Rian and I follow. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEXY!" Jenna shouts as we approach, she blows a party horn and throws her hands up, and does a little dance. I laugh and hug her, kissing her cheek. "Thank you my dear." We continue talking. It never occured to me how much time has passed. A few bands have already played, It's been a couple hours, Jack has been floating between me and wherever else. I was currently Wondering how I lost Zack and Jack, I am not to concerned, because I know they are busy, and I am having a mini party with Zack and Jenna tomorrow night anyway.
As time passes I keep looking around. "They need you on stage as soon as this band finishes." I laugh. "It's like you read my fucking mind!" She winks. "I know." As if on cue,the band finishes up. I clap. They were good, I will have to see who played later. Cass pushes me toward the stage. I go onto stage and see Jack, and Zack standing at the mic. I notice Rian, Jenna, and Cass sneak up behind me. The move backstage. Jack walks up to me. "C'mere handsome." He grabs both my hands and sits me in a chair in the middle of the stage. "Take it away Zack." He yells, and he goes side stage, mouthing Be right back as he disappears, I follow him with my eyes. My gaze snaps back to Zack. Who is standing, facing me. "Alright people. IT'S MY BEST FRIENDS BIRTHDAY!!" Everyone cheers. I smile, and woot from my chair. Suddenly the lights dim, and the stage lights get brighter. "What did you do!?!" I shout at him. He smiles and winks at me. "No birthday is complete without cake!"Cass, Rian, and Jenna begin wheeling out a massive cake. I laugh and begin tearing up, at how thoughtful this all is. Suddenly, Chaos. Rian runs over to the drum set, Cass grabs the mic from Zack, Jenna stands at the mic stand, and Zack runs over to where Jack is standing and grabs the bass out of his hand. Suddenly I feel someone grabbing my arm. I see Tyler guiding me to be near the cake and facing the makeshift band. Jack starts strumming a familiar tune on his eletric. I smile form ear to ear, gasping, realizing what is happening. Cass and Jenna start singing Happy Birthday. Zack and Rian are playing along to the tune. Tears are flowing down my face now as everyone in the club is singin
g along. I love my friends. I am so in awe as they play for me I don't even notice Tyler lighting the candles on the cake. The girls belt out the last Happy Birthday to you! "Make a wish and blow!" Jenna says into the mic. I make my wish and blow them out. The whole place roars with cheers. I run to the mic and say. "LET THEM EAT CAKE!" Everyone laughs as I back up. I walk over to the little huddle that they all created and started fanning my face because here come the water works. "You guys!" I day wiping a tear. "Love You!" Rian shouts. "Group hug Alex. Go!" Jack says and suddenly I am in the middle of them all, and they are hugging me. I smile to myself. We all pull apart.

Jack's P.O.V. (again)

I can't wait four days. I want to do this today, in front of all of our friends and family. But first, Ben and The Maine are here, since they had the day off today, and their show is here in Baltimore tomorrow, we planned a surprise, and they were more than down. The big surprise for Alex. As our group seperates, I run to the microphone as everyone leaves the stage. Zack winks at me, knowing what is about to happen. "Alright, now that's over, Alex, We have one last surprise for you. So when you asked me about something a couple days ago, I said I wasn't sure." I see Alex scowl and stick his tongue out at me. I smile. "But I lied. I was sure, in fact grab that envelope from earlier..l" His features change as he grabs it. I see our friends beaming beside him. He suddenly gets this huge smile on his face and squeals in delight. I laugh. "That's right, we have backstage to The Maine tomorrow, but not only that, since they had an off day and a certain friend of ours is on tour with them..." As I say it Ben comes waltzing on stage. "Hey Alex as a birthday gift, the guys asked me too bring the guys here since we were in town anyway. So with out further ado, Please welcome THE MAINE!" Ben yells into the Mic, and suddenly the opening chords of Miles Away begin. I run off stage to meet Alex. He meets me halfway, I don't have words for the look he is giving me.. it's amazing though, I can't do anything but lift him off his feet and kiss him. We pull apart and he says "I love you, and thank you for everything." I smile. "Your Welcome, but Zack also deserves all of the thanks." He smiles. "I know. Now let's enjoy the show." He grabs my hand and drags me over to the rest of the crowd, and we watch. At the end of the set they pull Alex on stage. I see it as a perfect time to tell everyone. "Guys. I can't wait any longer." Zack and Rian.get a twinkle in their eyes, and Jenna and Cass smile. "I know I was going to it on our anniversary, but why not tonight? In front of all of our friends. "I think you forgot family?" I hear Rian say as he turns me, I smile as I see Isobel, Peter, and my siblings walking towards us. I run and hug them all. "RIAN!" He smiles. "I had a feeling you couldn't wait." He smiles and hands me the ring he has been holding for me. "Jack. make me proud." My brother says with a hug. "Mom amd Dad couldn't bother to show huh?" May hugs me. "Jack...." I nod. "I know." They hug me again,understanding. "But we brought someone." I pull away as I hear her voice. "You think I would miss this!?" My eyes well up and I smile as I bring my Nana into my arms. "You came!" She grabs my face. "Of course! Now make your real family proud, and just remember, we'll be front row smiling up at you on that day, and remember that I love you." She says as she grabs Joe and May's hands. I nod. Joe and May whisper I love You's as we hug. "You make my boy so happy, now get married already so I have grandkids." Peter tells me in his accent. I nod as I pull away from my family and he brings an arm around my shoulder. I look at the band as they finish up the last song which Alex joined them on. and they see me walking up and John winks down at me."So. Alex. This is a kick ass party." Alex blushes and nods. "Yeah my best friend and my boyfriend put it together." John smiles. "Damn. My friends don't do that for me... you're lucky, now what are their names?" Alex smiles at Zack, then frowns, not seeing me I assume. "Well my best friend is Zack, and my boyfriend is Jack, who is missing." John laughs. "Wouldn't be so sure about that."

Alex's P.O.V.(again)

John said that and I looked to my left and see Jack walking on stage. He walks right up to me. "Hi." He says with a smile as he grabs my hands. He is super sweaty, something is up. "Hi, you okay love?" I ask him, he nods. Suddenly all lights dim and the only thing is a spotlight on Jack and I. "What's going on?" I ask. Jack smiles and shakily grabs the mic John hands him as the band leaves the stage. "You know I love you right?" I nod and kiss his cheek, I know we are not alone, but I can only focus in on Jack, no one else exists. "Of course." The mic picks up what I am saying too. So everyone can hear our conversation, but as I said, I don't care. "Alex, before you, I didn't know what love was, I didn't love, I only liked dudes for their dicks." I along with others laughed. "You showed me what true love can really be. I lpve everything about you babe. I love the fact that you sing as if the whole world is watching, I love the fact that you pick a wedgie when you don't think I am watching." I blush and shake my head as everyone laughs. "I love the fact that when you're tired you twirl your hair, or I love the fact that you accept all of my flaws, I love the feeling of you sleeping next to me. While there may be things we fight about that we can't stand. I can't imagine myself without you. Without you, there is no me." Bg this point I am a blubbering mess as Jack holds my hands in his. He lets go and wipes my tears. Then he lowers himself on one knee. OH MY GOD. I see a camera snap, catching my reaction. Zack! "So I was going to wait until our anniversary, but I couldn't, so in front of our friends and family. Alexander William Gaskarth, will you marry me?" I can't do anything but nod as sobs rip through me. I have wanted this for so long and now that it hapened I was so unprepared. Jack stands up, slipping the beautiful ring on and he kisses me deeply. He pulls back after and whispers. I love you. I put my forehead against his. "I love you too. So damn much."
