angela
The days passed in a blur of uncertainty and tension. Alexander hadn't been by since that fateful night when we nearly crossed a line, and my stomach twisted with anxiety in his absence. Each moment without him felt heavier, and the reality of my situation loomed like a dark cloud, growing more oppressive with each day. I couldn't shake the nausea that had been lingering, and the overwhelming weight of what I needed to tell him only added to my distress.
Finally, on the third day of his absence, I heard a knock on the door. My heart raced, but as I opened it, I found a guy standing there, his expression serious and his brow furrowed. "Hey, can I come in?" he asked, stepping past me before I could respond.
"who are you " I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
im Riley and I've been digging deeper into your past about your foster father . I think we need to talk."
I swallowed hard, bracing myself for whatever news he had uncovered. "What did you find?"
He pulled out a folder, thick with papers. "Your father's debts are worse than I thought. It seems he owed a significant amount of money to several unsavory characters. They were after him, and now... now they might be looking for you."
My heart sank. The thought of my father's past catching up with me was a nightmare I couldn't escape. "What kind of debts?" I asked, my voice trembling.
Riley looked down at the papers, scanning through the details. "These are not just small-time loans. We're talking about a substantial amount tied to gambling, drug debts... things that could put your life at risk."
I felt the walls of my world closing in on me, suffocating me with the weight of it all. "What does this mean for me?"
"It means you need to be careful," he replied, his tone serious. "If your foster father was involved in all this, they might think you're a target. They could come after you to settle the score."
Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes. "I thought I was free from all that. I thought I could start over."
Riley stepped closer, his expression softening. "You may have left the physical places behind, but those experiences can haunt you," he said gently. "I can help you, but you need to be honest with Alexander. He deserves to know what he's getting into."
"I know," I replied, rubbing my temples in frustration. "But how can I tell him? What if he sees me differently? What if he thinks I'm just a burden?"
Riley placed a hand on my shoulder. "He cares about you, Angel. You've seen that for yourself. But you have to be upfront about your past. Otherwise, it could come back to hurt both of you."
As Riley spoke, a wave of dizziness washed over me. I hadn't eaten much in the past few days, my stomach constantly churning with nausea and anxiety. I needed to be strong, but the thought of sharing my secrets felt like too much to bear.
