angel
The day felt endless, each passing hour dragging under the weight of my thoughts. After my heartfelt conversation with Lilah, I was resolute about facing the truth with Alexander. Yet fear still gripped me, holding me back as I wrestled with the enormity of my situation. But amidst the uncertainty, an unexpected surge of determination flickered within me, urging me to reach out to those who had once been close to me.
When I heard a knock on the door, my heart raced. "Come in!" I called, hoping it was either Lilah returning or perhaps Alexander. As the door opened, I was greeted by a familiar face.
"Angel!" Sara exclaimed, stepping inside with an infectious smile that instantly warmed me. I felt a rush of relief at her presence. "I can't believe you're here! I've missed you!"
She rushed forward and enveloped me in a tight hug, a gesture that melted away some of my anxiety. "I've been worried about you," she said, pulling back to look at me. "I heard some things through the grapevine and thought I'd check in. You've been through so much. How are you holding up?"
I gestured for her to sit down on the edge of my bed, grateful for the support. "It's been rough. I'm dealing with a lot right now, especially with everything happening with my family."
Sara nodded, her expression turning serious. "I can only imagine. But you're strong, Angel. You've always been. I'm here for you, no matter what."
Her words resonated deeply within me. It felt good to have someone who understood, someone who was willing to listen without judgment. "I appreciate that, Sara. It's just hard to navigate everything on my own."
"What's weighing on you the most?" she asked gently.
Taking a deep breath, I shared my fears about Alexander and the baby. "I'm scared that I'll mess this up, and that he'll regret being part of it. I want him to be involved, but I'm terrified of pushing him away."
Sara leaned forward, her gaze steady. "You need to talk to him, Angel. If you don't, this tension will only grow. He deserves to know your feelings, and deep down, I think he'll want to be there for you. Trust that he cares enough to support you."
"I know you're right," I said, my voice trembling slightly. "But I just don't know how to start the conversation."
"Start with honesty," Sara encouraged. "Tell him how you feel, and let him know you need him. You might be surprised by his reaction. He might just be waiting for you to reach out."
I felt a flicker of hope as her words sunk in. Maybe this was what I needed-to lean on others, to allow myself to be vulnerable in a space that felt increasingly safe.
After our conversation, Sara and I decided to head outside for some fresh air. The sun cast a warm glow over the compound, and as we strolled, I spotted a few bikers gathered around a fire pit, their laughter ringing out into the stillness. The camaraderie between them drew me in.
