My Partner's a Monster

Chapter 6

The vampires took all three to their hideout in Dracula's castle and kept them there all night. Once morning came, they all looked at Joseph in his human form with all the windows covered with curtains so no sun could get in the palace, and they could all stay in the shadows. The vampires kept Joseph tied to the wall so they could see him change and then kill him. However, the vampires untied Angelica and Megan and fastened them with chains. Matthew then attached a hook to Megan and Angelica's chains and gave Raven a thumbs up. Raven then pulled a lever and hung Megan and Angelica upside down over a firepit because she knew fire kills humans and vampires. Megan said, "Before you do us in, would you mind telling us why you're doing this?"

Matthew said, "Since you're about to be killed, we can tell you. For years, vampires have hunted werewolves. Every time we figure out one's in town, we capture and kill it." Megan said, "Why?" Matthew stated, "Werewolves are known for Transylvania as much as vampires are, so we're going to get rid of them." Megan said, "You won't find this amusing when we get finished with you." Matthew stated, "Oh, we will finish with you first." Matt snapped his fingers, and Raven slowly lowered Megan and Angelica toward the flames. Matthew said, "You two are in for your demise. We're sorry to have to do this to you, Angelica, but since you lied about slaying the werewolf, you leave us no choice. And now that we have your brother, Megan, we'll kill him as soon as he changes in front of the whole town. Good luck." Then Carolyn untied Joseph, and they took him to a different room, leaving Megan and Angelica to their doom.

Megan and Angelica started to panic because they were locked in a room with fire. Megan got an idea and said, "Wait, Angelica, you can transform." Angelica said, "So?" Megan stated, "So, change into something that can get out of here." Angelica thought about what she could change into and figured she only had one choice that could escape. Angelica changed into a moth and flew out of the chains. Then she turned back to herself and ran for the controls. Megan said, "Angelica, burning flames here." Angelica said, "Relax, I know how the controls work." Angelica pushed the off button and stopped the chains from lowering Megan down. Then she flipped a switch and shut the fire pit. Once Megan was safe, Angelica grabbed the keys, unlocked Megan from her chains, and she fell to the ground. Megan said, "Thank goodness we're safe. We must save Joseph before the moon comes up, or he's a goner." Angelica said, "They'll keep him locked up for the moment. Remember, it's daytime, so they'll all go to their rooms to sleep in their coffins until the sun goes down." Megan said, "Good. That gives us 8 hours before they wake up and discover we've escaped. So, we get Joseph out of here and hide back at my place since I'm inviting you and not them." Angelica said, "And we pray the police won't find us either."

The vampires had Joseph locked in a cage hanging from the ceiling in another room in the castle. They also opened the skylight to let the moonlight in as soon as the sun went down. After they had Joseph locked up, the vampires all went to their coffins in the next room and went to bed until the sun went down. Meanwhile, Angelica turned into a bat and used her vampire vision to locate Joseph. Once she did, she saw him locked in a cage next to the vampires' bedroom. Angelica said, "Joseph's locked up, and the vampires are waiting for him to change when night comes. That's why they opened the skylight and went to bed. So they can see him change when the moonlight flashes on him." Megan said, "Then we have to get him out of there before that happens."

Megan and Angelica snuck into Joseph's room and tried to be quiet so they wouldn't wake the vampires. Angelica then took the keys to the cage off the wall, turned herself into a bat, and flew up to Joseph. Angelica turned back into herself, put the keys in the keyhole, and opened the cage. Angelica and Joseph then hugged. Joseph said, "You came back." Angelica said, "Friends, don't let friends get killed." After they escaped, they jumped down from the cage and tried to sneak out quietly. Megan quietly opened the door, but a giant net landed on them. Angelica said, "Should have known it was a trap." The vampires then showed up. Matthew stated, "Yes, I figured you would come back." Megan said, "But how'd you know we'd escape?" Matthew said, "Oh, a little rat squeaked before I went to bed." Matthew pointed down, and they saw a rat on the ground. Then it changed back into Maddy. Angelica said, "Told you Maddy was a master of disguise." Matthew stated, "We also knew you knew how to work the controls."

Angelica then changed into a fox and hit Matthew and Carolyn down before they saw Joseph change. Maddy said, "Angelica, a fox, and a wolf are not so different." Maddy then transformed into a wolf and fought with Angelica while Joseph changed. Megan looked at Joseph and watched him transform, but a vampire dropped to the ground and said, "Ouch." Everyone then looked up and saw a ninja. The ninja shot a grappling gun to the room's other side and swung to Angelica and Maddy. Maddy turned back into herself, but the ninja jumped over her, grabbed her cape, and threw it over her face. While Maddy was blinded, the ninja kicked her away. The ninja then brought out a pen, clicked it, and shot a laser at the net Joseph was trapped in to free him. Once Joseph was free, he made a run for it. Chris turned into an owl and flew after Joseph, but Joseph hid his face under his hood and ran on two feet instead of four. The ninja tried hypnotizing him, but the ninja put on hypnosis protective sunglasses to protect his eyes. The ninja then lassoed Raven with a lasso attached to his wrist, threw her to the wall, and she fell to the ground.

Angelica then turned back to herself and stood next to Megan. Angelica said, "You are?" The ninja removed his mask and sunglasses to show Megan and Angelica who he was. Megan stated, "Franco?" Angelica said, "You're The Slaying Mask?" Megan said, "The Slaying Mask? You mean the expert vampire slayer and jewel thief never caught by any vampire or police officer." Franco stated, "I'll explain later." Franco then brought out his grappling gun again, shot it at the window, and escaped through there with Megan while Angelica followed as a bat.
