CHAPTER 12: Overcoming a loss

The days passed and the trainers did their best training to the Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup. They had some days to rest, some problems to solve, and one or two adventures that they had on the way. The day of the competition arrived, where Ash, Iris, Cilan and Dawn were going to participate, not only them, people that he had met previously in the trip through Unova would also participate in the tourney, so they would have a difficult time.

The competition started, the winner would have the honor to face against Alder, champion of the Unova region, in a Pokémon battle. After several battles that would decide who were going to participate in the finals, the finalists were Ash and Trip, his rival since the young man with hat met him in the Professor Juniper's laboratory after arriving Unova. To Ash bad luck, Trip's Serperior was more powerful and faster than the Pokémon of the young man with hat, so he ended losing and consecrating Trip as the winner of the Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup. He would have the honor to face against Alder.

The battle was a surprise for Trip, despite that his Serperior was very strong and had won every battle of the tournament, he wasn't able to face the incredible power of the champion of the Unova region. His Bouffalant, with only one attack, beat Trip's Pokémon, ending the battle like that. The young man that aspired for more, after talking with Alder about what he lacked to win after losing, he learnt his lesson and went to the Pokémon Centre to heal his Pokémon.

The competition finished and Ash, Iris, Cilan and Dawn returned to Cynthia's vacation home. Dawn said that she would have to travel to Johto for a contest, Ash and her did a Pokémon battle and the next day everyone went to the port to say goodbye to her. The most probably thing was they would return to see each other later on.

Days after saying goodbye to Dawn, Ash was training for the Unova League, which would start in a short time, so he had to train very hard. From nowhere, as they were training, a man on a Golurk appeared that wanted to attack Ash, but Meloetta, who continued living with them, clarified that all was a misunderstanding. After realizing of that, he man and the trainer went to talk about what was happening. The man was called Ridley and he was looking for the Melody Pokémon since a long time, because she was kidnapped by some villains where he and his people lived.

In middle of the conversation, the villains appeared, who were all this time Team Rocket. Members of the evil organization broke in the terrain and attacked them. Ridley tried to distract them while Ash, Iris and Cilan escaped to the forest, together with Meloetta. Sadly, they bumped into Jessie, James and Meowth to attack them as well, so Iris and Cilan fought against them while Ash and Meloetta ran away from there. For their bad luck, the also came across with Giovanni, leader of Team Rocket, who captured the young man with hat and the mythical Pokémon and took them in helicopter to the sea. Later, they submerged in a submarine and entered in an undersea temple.

Inside, they put Meloetta in a cross-shaped floating rock, and Team Rocket's grunts, with some speakers, played a song that Melody Pokémon sang to start the ritual. They recorded the song while she was living at ease with the trainers. The ideal was that Meloetta put herself in the floating rock and sang that song, but she wouldn't do it if she felt fear or anger. In the ritual, stairs appeared and at the end an object showed itself, it was the Reveal Glass. By activating, it would do that the temple went out from the sea and would show itself to the outside, and summon the three forces of nature. The Operation Tempest had begun.

Thanks to the Reveal Glass, they summoned the three legendary Pokémon: Thundurus, Landorus and Tornadus, who were under Giovanni's control. He wanted to use the three of them to conquer the Unova region. Meanwhile, Ash's companions, after finding out what was happening, they went on the boat of Cynthia's butler to rescue Ash and Meloetta. On the top of the temple, Ash and Pikachu were able to get free and tried to rescue the Melody Pokémon, but Team Rocket would do everything possible so the Operation Tempest continued its course.
