8: Traitor and Acquaintance

Raichi's fury turned to Kuon as he grabbed him by his shirt.
"What the hell?! I'll kill you! What were you thinking?! Why did you do this?!", Raichi questioned him while shaking him violently.
"I'm... just doing everything I can to stay in Blue Lock.", he replied with a face without any hesitation.
"What?!", as Raichi pulled his fist back to beat him up the speaker interrupted him.
"Raichi Jingo, yellow card! Return to your side and resume the game!"
"Are you stupid?! How can we have a game like this?!"
"Why.. would you betray us Kuon? If we lose it's over for you as well! What's the point of losing on purpose?!", Iga-guri questioned dissatisfied.

"If it only weren't for Sachi... it would've been only me advancing! Well no matter... I will find a different way for me to advance. From now on...", Kuon said as he passed to the younger Wanima.
"We'll be playing 12 on 10. I realised that our chances to win against Team W and Team V are slim. That's why I decided to do everything to keep myself in Blue Lock and advance by myself as the top scorer."
Kuon smiled sadistically as he played against Team Z.
"That's why I made a deal with Team W. In exchange for giving them info on our team, they'd let me score the points needed to overtake Sachi. But that plan failed. My mindset however hasn't changed. I'll just score another 2 goals next game and advance alone!"

"What about all the things you've said? That we should win together?!", Isagi asked with desperation that the previous Kuon wasn't just a fake.
"I'm glad you were so stupid, Isagi!"
Distracted by all the chaos Team W scored their first goal easily.

"Team W: 1:4."

"See? They easily scored just now. We wouldn't have stood a chance. Anyways, thanks for the help, Team Z!"
Our team was too riled up by Kuon's betrayal to properly concentrate on the game.
And I was always marked too heavily to even jump in to help defend.
Team Z's entire hopes shattered with the next announcement.

"Team W: 5:4."

"Damn it all!"
"What do we do?"
With another kickoff by the Wanima twins the entire field turned into an effort to stop their advance towards our goal. The older Wanima had made it in front of the goal and tried scoring again however the shot was effectively blocked by Iemon.
"Leave the goal to me! I will protect it with my life! You all should score one more and tie up the score!", Iemon encouraged.
The blocked ball almost landed at Chigiri's feet but was swiftly stolen by the younger Wanima.
"Too slow!"

Chigiri stopped his movements with a defeated look.
"Run, Chigiri! It's not over yet!", an overly aggressive Isagi shouted.
The ball was on the move again as the time slowly ticked down.
"What? Don't tell me you still think you can win, Isagi? Team Z is going to lose."
"Crap, only 3 minutes left!"

Isagi's eyes changed to eyes with confidence and pure egoism.
"That's more like it, Isagi.", I stated as I ran free from the group of Team W players marking me. Isagi passed through Kuon only to get tripped by the older Wanima which led to him landing on his face. He immediately stood up again.
"I'll finish this!"
As Chigiri stood there frozen, the time continued ticking down.
"Chigiri! Don't stand there! Get it!", Isagi commanded.
He sloppily caught the ball only for Isagi to push him.
"Move it!"

Isagi managed to get the ball up but was blocked off again by the Wanima twins.
"Isagi."
He passed to me with a fierce look to which I just grinned.
"Got it."
I one tapped the ball and passed it back.
Meanwhile a red-head had already stood up with newfound determination.
A blur of red ran down the field as Isagi's vision captured it.
Without hesitation Isagi passed onto an empty space near Kuon with no Team Z player in sight.
"Where are you aiming?!"
"There's no one there?!"
"Kuon, get the ball! If we clear it, it'll be game over!"
"On it!"
Just as he was about to reach the ball, he got pushed aside.
"Move it!"
Chigiri sped through the field and had almost reached the goal.
He kicked the ball forwards and immediately sped up to receive his own pass.
The older Wanima tried disrupting Chigiri's balance by pulling him back which only made him more determined. He sped up even more until the ball was in the air, right between Chigiri and the goal keeper.
