Extraordinary // Blue Lock Fanfic

11: Team Z vs. Team V pt. 2

The second half started with Team Z's kickoff.
Isagi kicked off and passed over to Kunigami, who was more heavily marked due to his previous goal. Still out of his range, he passed over to Bachira who passed back to Gagamaru.
He jumped up to deliver a scorpion kick which almost landed in the goal.
However someone, Tsurugi Zantetsu, blocked the shot off with his head.
The loose ball landed at the feet of Isagi.
Meanwhile I was still spectating Team V whether they changed strategies or added new plays. Isagi tried to shoot but was blocked off by Team V as they cleared the ball.

Nagi ran up behind him as he still looked as bored as before.
"You're totally useless. Even though you were acting so cool. Why didn't you shoot? You do a lot of pointless stuff.
I just don't get it. If I had your level of talent, I would've quit football by now.
Tell me. What is it that makes you push yourself so hard?"
At Nagi's belittling comments Isagi's eyes changed. I smiled with a crazed expression.
Ah... I get it now...

"Shut it, prodigy! I'm just getting to the good part.", Isagi barked back.
Mikage was in possession of the ball as Raichi tried keeping him in check again.
His movements were now restricted by Raichi as he passed the ball over to Tsurugi.
He was heavily guarded as well, barely allowing him any chances.
"Reo, this side is too heavily guarded! Set it up again!"
"Tch. I know that..."

"What's wrong?! Need to file a victim report?!", Raichi taunted the purple head.
He looked relentlessly for any opportunity to pass the ball to Nagi.
"You know... whenever you receive a pass, the first thing you do is look for Nagi."
As Naruhaya and Iga-guri were marking Nagi, they didn't look as scared as before.
"Hail this! You're not scary anymore, you damn prodigy! You can't do a thing without Reo bossing you around!", Iga-guri exclaimed.

Raichi took this opportunity to talk down to Mikage as well.
"Same goes for you! Without that prodigy of yours... You're just a fancy jack of all trades!"
Raichi seemed to really get under his skin as Mikage elbowed Raichi in the neck.
"Team V number 9, Mikage Reo. Yellow card for that malicious elbowing!", the speaker announced to Mikage's dismay.
Raichi simply grinned as he took the free ball and passed to Chigiri.
What is this feeling... of excitement building up within me?
I finally ran up with all my strength as I observed the whole field.
Chigiri had trouble getting past Tsurugi as I waved to him.
"Chigiri."
"Asher..."

With no hesitation Chigiri passed to me. As the attention was previously focused on Chigiri and Tsurugi, Team V had no chance to stop me. I passed through the remaining defenders with ease and stood in a 1 on 1 situation with the goalkeeper.
I bounced the ball up and slammed it into the back of the net. A shot that demolished any confidence the goalie ever had at stopping me. A powerful volley.

"Team Z: 4:3."
"We took the lead!"
"We can do this!"
"What the hell are you doing Team V? Get serious you idiots! Aren't you ashamed to be losing to a 10-player team?! Dumbasses!", Kuon shouted with disdain.
Seems like he really wanted us to lose this bad.
At Kuon's words, the purple head looked up with an angered expression.
"Shut up, you trash..."

I glanced at the timer and only 15 minutes remained on the clock.
The play resumed with Team V in possession of the ball.
Mikage kicked off and looked for opportunities only to find none.
Tsurugi was blocked off by Chigiri and Naruhaya, Nagi was a bit further away, meaning he'd have to overcome Raichi's stalker defense.
At Mikage's hopeless expression, something changed on the field. Something... awakened.
Nagi sprinted out with a fierce look.
"Pass to me, Reo... I'll... take care of it."
He received Mikage's pass and turned around in direction of our goal. I immediately put every ounce of strength into my legs.

I had already anticipated that none in our defense could stop him. At least not this early in Blue Lock. I sprinted down the field as my eyes widened at the situation unfolding before my eyes. Right in the penalty area, Nagi trapped the ball before anyone could stop him.
As he kicked the ball into the direction of the goal, I reached the goal just in time to receive his kick to my chest and cleared the ball away.
My eyes widened as I landed on the artificial grass. Everyone couldn't peel their eyes away from what was happening.
The loose ball landed at Nagi's feet and he took it upon himself to take this point no matter what. And so he did. He shot before anyone could react. For obvious reasons I couldn't do shit as I landed very roughly on the ground.
I silently cursed as the speaker announced the new score.
