AS THE CROWD'S THUNDEROUS CHEERS ECHOED THROUGHOUT THE STADIUM,  Shoto Todoroki stood silently among his classmates, his gaze fixed on Yuki as she made her way toward the arena.

For a brief moment, the rigid mask of his usual stoicism cracked, his expression flickering with a subtle emotion that only those who knew him well might catch. Yuki didn't glance back, didn't give the slightest indication that she felt his eyes on her.

That alone twisted something deep inside him, a knot tightening in his chest. He was the one who had caused this distance, the one who had fractured the fragile bond they shared.

Where had it all gone wrong?

His thoughts kept circling back to their earlier confrontation. He had spoken too much, dredged up memories that should have stayed buried.

The way Yuki had looked at him afterward—like he had betrayed her—played over and over in his mind. He had hurt her, opened old wounds, and now she was about to face a battle, her cold exterior barely concealing the turmoil he knew was brewing underneath.

She always tried to be strong, to hide the pain, just like he did. And that was what he hated the most.

Shoto's fists clenched at his sides. He watched every step Yuki took, frustration building inside him. It was his fault she was like this—closed off, stubborn, always trying to be fine when she wasn't. He wished he could say something, apologize, or explain that he never meant to hurt her.

But how could he? They were too much alike in all the worst ways.

Both of them were haunted by the same childhood, shaped by the same trauma, yet they had never learned how to reach out to each other.

He hated that. He hated that she felt she had to carry all of it alone, putting on a brave face for the world when he knew all too well what it cost her inside.

"ALRIGHT, EVERYONE! THE MOMENT YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR! FIRST UP IN THE BATTLE ROUND— IT'S YUKI TODOROKI VERSUS IBARA SHIOZAKIIIIII!"

Present Mic's enthusiastic announcement boomed across the stadium, and the crowd roared in excitement.

But Shoto's attention never wavered from Yuki. His heart pounded, knowing the toll this battle would take on her, both physically and emotionally.

She was powerful—more powerful than she realized—but Shoto wasn't worried about her abilities. What unsettled him was the thought of her pushing too far, unleashing too much, driven by emotions she always tried to bury.
