The transition from partners to something more wasn't smooth. In fact, it was messy, full of confusion and a rollercoaster of emotions.

Tim and Lucy kept their relationship a secret at first—partly because of the complications of dating within the department, but also because neither of them was ready to face what it might mean for their partnership.

On patrol, things remained mostly the same. They were still Tim and Lucy—sharp, focused, and fiercely loyal to each other. But there were subtle changes.

A touch of Tim's hand on her back as they walked into a scene. The way his eyes lingered on her just a second longer than necessary. The small moments they stole in the patrol car when no one was watching.

Their colleagues were quick to pick up on it, though. John Nolan was the first to tease her, his smirk a dead giveaway.

"So... you and Bradford?" he asked one afternoon, his tone light but curious. Lucy flushed, but denied it, brushing him off with a wave of her hand. "Come on, Nolan. We're just partners."

But inside, she couldn't help but feel the weight of what they were hiding. As much as she cared about Tim—maybe even loved him—there was always that tiny voice in her head, warning her. Telling her that something wasn't quite right.

She couldn't explain it. Tim was perfect—too perfect, almost. And yet, every now and then, she would catch herself feeling... uneasy.

It was small, fleeting, like the feeling of walking into a room and forgetting why you went there.

But it lingered, just out of reach, always there, even in the happiest moments.
