When Lucy found out she was pregnant, her world tilted on its axis. She had always known that she wanted kids one day, but when the day actually came, it felt surreal.

She was overjoyed, of course, but there was also a part of her that was terrified. Would she be a good mother? How would this change things between her and Tim? And more importantly, could they handle the challenges that were about to come their way?

Tim's reaction was everything Lucy had hoped for. He was stunned at first, his face going slack with disbelief. But then, a slow smile spread across his face, and he pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly.

"We're going to be parents," he whispered, his voice full of wonder.

Lucy nodded against his chest, her own heart pounding with a mixture of excitement and fear. "Yeah. We are."

The months that followed were a whirlwind of doctor's appointments, baby shopping, and preparing their home for the new arrival.

Tim was more attentive than ever, constantly checking on Lucy, making sure she wasn't overdoing it at work, cooking her favorite meals when she was too tired to get off the couch.

He'd lay his hand on her belly at night, marveling at the tiny life growing inside her.

And yet, as the due date approached, that nagging sense of unease grew stronger. Lucy tried to shake it, telling herself it was just nerves about becoming a mother.

But sometimes, late at night, when Tim was asleep beside her, she'd lie awake staring at the ceiling, feeling a strange disconnect from everything around her. It was as if she were living in someone else's life—someone else's dream.

But she pushed the thought away. This was real. It had to be.

Their daughter was born on a sunny afternoon in late May. She had Tim's eyes, a striking shade of blue that made Lucy's heart ache with love every time she looked at her.

Tim was the proudest father anyone had ever seen, constantly doting on their baby girl, holding her in his arms as if she were the most precious thing in the world.

Life felt full, complete. Their little family was everything Lucy had ever dreamed of.

But in the quiet moments, when she was alone with her thoughts, that feeling of unease still lingered, like a shadow she couldn't shake.
