As dusk settled over the divine realm of Sora, a quiet anticipation filled the palace. In her chamber, Goddess Freen sat, her heart swelling with an uncontainable happiness. The glow of joy, however, was briefly interrupted when Nam entered, bowing deeply.
“Goddess, I bear news from Kira,” Nam reported solemnly. “A demon was sent here a week ago… with orders to steal the sacred syrup.”
The smile faded from Freen's face as a shadow of worry crossed her eyes. Composing herself, she replied, “I’ll see to it. Thank you, Nam. You may leave. And… as you go, send Becky to me.”
Nam gave a respectful nod, exiting to deliver the message.
Meanwhile, in her own chamber, Becky paced restlessly, her mind racing. A demon discovered… The words echoed in her mind, gnawing at her. She didn’t know how long she could continue this act before someone would find out her true identity. When Nam entered and instructed her to visit Freen, her heartbeat quickened. She straightened, swallowing her anxiety. Just stay calm, she reminded herself.
With each step she took toward Freen’s chamber, her mind churned. The dark, towering door loomed ahead of her. She hesitated, took a deep breath, and finally knocked.
The door swung open, and Freen stood there, smiling warmly. “Come in, Becky.” The goddess shut the door behind them, the soft click echoing ominously in the silence. Becky felt a shiver trickle down her spine. A strange tension filled the room, making the vast space feel suddenly confined.
Freen’s gaze softened as she approached Becky, each step steady and intentional. Becky’s heart pounded louder with every inch the goddess closed between them. She was nearly pinned under Freen’s intense gaze, a gaze so filled with affection that it sent a pang of guilt through her.
“Becky,” Freen murmured, her voice a quiet hush, “stay with me tonight. There’s something I need to do… with you.”
Becky’s throat tightened, and she quickly looked down, trying to mask her emotions. The very air between them felt thick, charged with a feeling that both thrilled and terrified her. She knew that allowing herself to be close to a goddess was dangerous. A demon and a goddess? It could destroy her. Or worse, ruin Freen…
Just as Becky’s mind spun for excuses, Freen moved away, turning to retrieve something. The goddess returned, holding a small, glistening object in her hand. Becky’s eyes widened as she recognized it—a ring, crafted with exquisite precision, the gem reflecting the faint glow of moonlight. Freen looked at her, her eyes soft with adoration.
“Becky,” she whispered, her voice brimming with emotion, “will you always be mine? I’ll protect you, care for you, and love you for all eternity.”
Becky’s mind froze. This wasn’t part of her plan. But, if she wanted Freen’s trust, she couldn’t falter. Her hand trembled as she hesitantly held it out, a small, uncertain nod her only response.
With a look of pure happiness, Freen slipped the ring onto Becky’s finger, her smile brightening as if she had just been handed the world itself. Becky's thoughts, however, drifted back to her mission, to the sacred syrup, and to the fact that she was in the heart of the divine realm, pretending to be someone she wasn’t.
The weight of deception lay heavily on her, but for now, she wore Freen’s promise on her finger, and the goddess’s trust in her heart, knowing that this bond they had just sealed was based on everything Becky had yet to reveal.
