Meanwhile, hidden in the shadows, Mon had seen everything.
The memories of her ancient life came crashing down like a tidal wave.

She remembered Freen.
The love they shared.
The curse that tore them apart.
The lifetimes spent searching.

Tears flooded Mon’s vision as she stumbled forward, out into the garden where Freen and Heng stood.

Her voice, broken and desperate, shattered the night. "Freen... please... go back! Leave this place before it's too late!"

Freen turned, her heart breaking anew at the sight of Mon’s tears. "Mon..."

"You cannot lose everything for me," Mon wept. "You cannot throw away your divinity for a mortal love. You are meant for more, Freen."

Freen knelt before her, their foreheads touching lightly. "I have lived lifetimes without you. What meaning do eternity and power hold if I must live them alone?"

Mon sobbed uncontrollably, her fingers clinging to Freen’s robe. "But you will suffer...! You will fade!"

"I would rather fade holding your hand," Freen whispered, "than reign forever in loneliness."

Behind them, Heng watched with quiet resignation.

At last, after a long silence, Heng sighed heavily and stepped forward.

"If this is your decision," he said, his voice rich with sorrow, "then I shall not stand in your way. I cannot command the heart, no matter how powerful I am."

He placed a trembling hand upon Freen's head, blessing her.

"I grant you this, my sister. When you and Becky unite fully, when your hearts become one in flesh and soul, a daughter shall be born unto you. A child of the heavens and the earth."

He smiled sadly.

"She will be the heir of your love, your courage, and your sacrifice. And when you both are gone from this world, I shall take her to Saro... that I may never forget you, nor the depth of what you chose."

Freen cried openly now, clutching Heng's hand with both of hers. "Thank you, Brother... I will love her with all that I am."

"And I," Heng said, voice breaking slightly, "will love you both until the stars fall from the skies."

He stepped back.

With a final, lingering gaze at his sister, Heng turned and vanished into the realm of the gods — leaving Freen, Mon, and the shattered remnants of destiny behind.

And for the first time in centuries, Freen truly smiled.

Because she was free.

As Heng disappeared into the distance, his powerful presence fading like a whispered promise, the world around Freen and Becky felt quieter. The weight of what had just transpired hung in the air like a delicate veil, neither of them ready to break it. Freen—the Goddess, the immortal being—was gone. In her place stood Sam, a mortal woman, fragile yet full of love. The love she had chosen above all else.

Becky, now Mon, couldn’t hold herself back any longer. She rushed into Sam’s arms, pulling her close as if she were afraid she might vanish like a fleeting dream.

"Why did you choose this, Freen? Why?" Mon whispered through her tears, her voice trembling with pain and confusion. She didn’t know how to make sense of it all—the sacrifice Sam had made, the loss of her divine self, everything.

Sam’s hands gently cupped Mon’s face, her thumb wiping away the tears that glistened on her beloved’s cheeks. "Because I love you more than anything, Mon," she said softly, her voice heavy with emotion. "More than my powers, more than the world I came from. I’ve lived for so long, but nothing—nothing—ever felt as real as this."

Sam’s gaze held Mon’s, those once-immortal eyes now filled with vulnerability and truth. "I’m not Freen anymore. I’m just Sam. I’m just a human, like you. Don’t call me Freen anymore, please. I want to be with you in this life, as who I am now." Her words carried the weight of a thousand lifetimes, yet in that moment, she was just a woman with a heart full of love, standing before the one person who meant everything to her.

Mon's arms tightened around Sam, her heart shattering at the thought of the sacrifice Sam had made. "No, Sam… You didn’t have to do this," she whispered, her voice breaking. "But I know why you did. You chose us. You chose me." She pulled back just enough to look Sam in the eyes, her own tears flowing freely now. "I don’t deserve you, Sam. I don’t deserve this kind of love. But I’ll spend my whole life trying to show you just how much you mean to me."

Sam let out a soft laugh, the sound of it tender and full of love. "You deserve everything, Mon. You’ve always deserved everything. I chose this because being with you is all I ever wanted. You are everything to me, and that will never change."

Mon clung to Sam even tighter, as though the more she held her, the more she could protect this fragile moment, this gift of love that Sam had given her. "I’m so sorry, Sam. For everything. For not remembering sooner. But I promise you—no one will ever love you more than I do. No one."

Sam’s heart swelled with affection as she pressed a soft kiss to Mon’s forehead. "It’s okay. I never needed you to remember right away. I just needed you to love me, to be with me. And now you are."

Mon pulled back just enough to look into Sam’s eyes, her expression filled with admiration and longing. "Thank you. Thank you for choosing us… for choosing me. I’ll love you forever. You’re my world now."

Sam smiled, her heart overflowing with gratitude. She had no more powers, no divine responsibilities, no eternity to live through. All she had was this moment—this life—standing before Mon, the woman who had been her everything. "And I’ll love you forever, too. Whatever happens next, as long as I have you, I have everything."

The air around them seemed to soften, the world quieting as if acknowledging the depth of their love. In that moment, there was no past, no prophecy, no divine duty—only the love between two people, so deeply intertwined that nothing could ever tear them apart.

They stood there, holding each other in the silence of the night, their hearts beating as one, knowing that no matter what the future held, they would face it together.
