The night was restless. Heavy clouds loomed above the earth, thick and unmoving, as if the heavens themselves were holding their breath.
From the mist of realms unseen, God Heng descended — the favored son of the Almighty, and brother to the radiant Freen. His silver robes trailed behind him, shimmering with the light of distant stars. His face was stern, but the sorrow in his eyes was unmistakable.
He had come for one reason:
To bring his beloved sister Freen — and his aunt Wan — back to where they belonged, before they lost themselves entirely.
Freen arrived, her form glowing under the moonlight, her heart thundering within her chest. She stood before Heng, her expression guarded but her soul already torn apart by the choices she had made.
"Brother," she greeted softly, bowing her head out of deep respect.
"Freen," Heng answered, his voice low, formal, heavy with unspoken disappointment. "You were not summoned here for greetings. You know why I have come."
Freen raised her eyes to meet his. Her voice trembled, but she stood tall. "I know."
"Then explain yourself," Heng demanded. "Explain why you, chosen protector of Saro, blessed child of the Almighty himself, have abandoned your duties for a fleeting mortal affection."
Freen clenched her fists at her side, struggling to hold back the storm within her. "It is not fleeting," she said, voice steady. "It is eternal. I love Becky with a love that transcends lifetimes, Brother."
Heng’s brows furrowed in disbelief. "Love?" he scoffed, pacing around her slowly. "You speak of love as if it redeems betrayal. You were not born to serve yourself. You were born for the realms, for balance, for destiny."
"And what of my own heart?" Freen cried, stepping forward, her wings of light flickering with pain. "What of the life I must live, bound forever to duty without joy? Without choice? Am I not deserving of love, even if it damns me?"
Heng’s voice softened then, grief piercing through his anger. "You are my sister, Freen. I have loved you since the moment you opened your eyes. I have watched you shine brighter than all others. You deserve the universe... but not at the cost of who you are."
Freen’s lips trembled. "Who I am is hers now."
Before Heng could answer, the very air shifted — something was wrong.
Heng stiffened, sensing it immediately. He closed his eyes, reaching with his divine senses across the earth. His face darkened.
"She is lost..." he whispered.
"Who?" Freen demanded, panic rising.
"Wan," Heng said hollowly.
Across the city, in a dimly lit room, Wan sat across from Kim — mortal, beautiful Kim — the woman who had captivated her very soul. The candlelight bathed Kim’s features in gold, and Wan, already lightheaded from the wine, could hardly tear her gaze away.
Kim laughed, playful and soft. "You know... this feels like a date, Wan."
Wan blinked slowly, the alcohol loosening every restraint she had ever held. "It... is a date," she murmured.
Kim leaned forward, touching Wan's hand gently. "Then... can I kiss you?"
Wan didn’t answer — she just closed the distance.
Their lips met — tender, desperate, aching — and in that kiss, Wan felt something shatter inside her. The ancient oath that bound her divinity cracked, crumbled, and died.
A golden light bloomed around her, unnoticed by the sleeping world.
Wan's power, her immortality, dissolved into the earth.
She collapsed beside Kim, who smiled softly in her sleep, unaware of the cosmic loss that had just taken place.
And there, standing silently at the threshold, was Heng.
He gazed at Wan, his once-proud aunt, now merely a mortal woman lying in a mortal's arms. His heart splintered in silence.
He whispered, voice trembling, "Farewell, Aunt Wan. I shall remember you."
A single tear slid down his cheek before he disappeared, leaving behind only the scent of stardust.
