Waking up to my sister screaming "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" at the top of her lungs was something I didn't have on my bingo card for this year. I giggled and sat up as my younger sister, Olivia, was jumping on the bed. "Oh, Lix, I can't wait for you to meet your mate! I'm so excited!"

My voice came out more groggily than I intended, "You don't know if I'll find my mate or not, Liv. I may just have to wait." I shrugged my shoulders and started getting out of bed.

Olivia quit jumping and just sat, watching me as I picked out clothes so I could shower. "You know, mom is so excited. She thinks you'll find your mate, too."

I rolled my eyes. "Mom is a romantic, Liv. You know that. And besides, I'm not trying to get my hopes up. I want to find my mate and settle down. I know I'm young, but being an omega has me ready to start a family." I smiled shyly as I grabbed an outfit and then walked to my bathroom to shower.

When I got done in the bathroom, I walked into an empty room. Olivia must've gone to find Rachel. My sisters are my everything. Rachel is the oldest out of all of us. She is an alpha, and dad was so proud of her when he found out. When I presented as an omega on my 16th birthday, my dad wasn't impressed, but my mother seemed like she knew that would happen and expected nothing less. Olivia is almost 2 years younger than me, so she has yet to present, but when she does, I believe she'll be either an omega or beta.

Rachel is only 2 years older than me, and she hasn't found her mate yet, so I'm not sure what Olivia is on about. I can't wait to meet my mate, though.

Coming out of my thoughts, I decided to go downstairs to greet my parents. "Good morning, mom." I said cheerfully.

My mom stopped what she was doing and walked over to hug me. "Oh, my baby. I can't believe you're 18 today." She said.

I giggled and hugged my mom back. "I know. It seems so unreal, momma." I sighed. "I can't wait to celebrate with the pack later."

My mom broke the hug and looked at me, "My Lixie bear, you have become such a wonderful young man. I am so proud of you." She kissed my forehead and went back to cooking what I assume was breakfast.

My sisters walked into the kitchen deep in conversation when Olivia spoke up a bit too much. "Rach, you're supposed to save yourself for your mate. Why would you do that?"

"Shh! I don't want to hear mom's dumb speech again." Rachel rolled her eyes.

My eyes widened, and I was speaking quickly before I could stop myself. "You didn't wait for your mate?" I covered my mouth quickly.

My sisters looked at me, and then my mom's wooden spoon fell to the floor, alerting us that she had heard. She turned, her face red with anger. My mom always cherished the mate bond and everything that came with it. To her, sex was something that should be saved for your mate only, and I kind of agreed. I only wanted my mate to see me so intimately, not some random stranger.

"Rachel.." My mom trailed off, and Olivia came to sit next to me. We held onto one another and watched the scene in front of us. "Why would you not wait for your mate? Is sex so important that you just don't want to wait?"

Silence.

"So you just want to act like some whore and sleep around, huh. What will your mate say about this?"

"I don't care, mom!" Rachel yelled. "I don't even think I have a mate at this point. It's been 2 years, momma, and I haven't found my goddess-given mate. I am lonely. What did you expect me to do?" Rachel was getting worked up, her eyes were red, and she had unshed tears ready to fall.

My mom just stood there and watched my sister. "Does he at least treat you well?" My mom asked after a minute. Rachel nodded her head. "When can I meet him?"

Rachel looked up, and a wave of guilt looked like it washed over her. She spoke quietly. "He hasn't met his mate either, so we weren't supposed to tell anyone."

Mom sighed. "Well, how long has this been going on?"

"Almost a year." Rachel replied, hesitantcy leaking through her voice. "I'm sorry, mom. It was supposed to be just a one-time thing, but it kept happening."

Mom put her hand up, not wanting to hear anymore. "You don't have to apologize to me, but if he finds his mate, you will apologize to them. Got it?"

"Yes, ma'am." Rachel's head hung low.

"Now help me finish this food so we can eat." Rachel did everything she could to help mom so she wouldn't be on her bad side. I really hate that Rachel slept with someone else's mate, but at the same time, she is so lonely, so I guess I get it.

We ate breakfast in an awkward silence until my dad spoke up. Mom told him about what she found out, and then they took their conversation to the bedroom, leaving the three of us to clean up.

Later that evening, we were headed to my birthday party that the pack was throwing for me.

My pack was good. They weren't mean at all to omegas like some packs were, but they didn't put us on a high horse, either. I was just happy that we had a roof over our head and food to eat. The pack didn't have to celebrate my birthday, but they did because they wanted everyone to feel special and welcome.

About an hour into the party and talking to a bunch of people, the Alpha's son had arrived. He had been working a lot so no one really got to see him much.

Taylor was the talk of the town. He was next in line to be the Alpha. His dark brown hair was like silk, and his green eyes were captivating. They say he still hasn't found his mate, but when he does, they will be so lucky. He looks like the embodiment of a perfect mate.

I was busy talking to my friend Brennan when an intoxicating smell of toffee hit my nose. I turned my head and looked up to see the green eyes of Taylor.

"Mate," He growled possessively and grabbed me by my waist. My eyes widened in shock, and my head spun around to look for my mom in the crowd.

Before I could say anything, Taylor was leading me to where his parents were. "Follow me." I followed obediently behind him and didn't say a word.

When we reached his parents, they looked shocked to see me following their son. "Mom, Dad, I've found my mate." He grabbed my hand and pulled me to him. Their eyes widened, and smiles grew on their faces.

"That's wonderful, Taylor!" His mom all but shouted.

"Would you like us to announce this, son?" His father asked. Taylor looked to me with an unreadable expression before turning back to his dad to answer him.

"Yes. He's perfect, and I want everyone to know that he is mine." Taylor wrapped his arms around my waist and held me to his chest. It was nice to feel wanted and loved by my mate. I started purring and smiled. Closing my eyes to take in the warmth of my mate.
