Chapter 9

Hyunjin POV:

Felix answered the phone call after a couple rings, "Hi, momma!" He sounded excited. As I listened to him talk, I observed the way his lips moved. His fingers fidgeting with the bottom of his shirt. His eyes shone bright while he eagerly listens. He is literally the cutest, but what caught my attention the most was his accent. It sounds very familiar. Then I realized I never even asked where he's from.

What kind of mate am I?

Are we even considered mates? I know we're mated, but are we mates?

I still don't know.

What would Felix want?

My thoughts are interrupted when I hear Felix saying his goodbye. I look to the omega expectanly, and smile.

"Sorry, that was my mom. She just wanted to make sure I was doing okay." He said shyly.

"No problem, Lix. I'm glad you are still in contact with your mother. You know, since you're having to go through the whole crazy ex-mate thing."

"Yeah, I'm sorry about that.." Felix trailed off and looked away. He seemed embarrassed.

"Why are you sorry?" I asked, my brows furrowed.

"Because I.. I didn't know how you'd react to being my second chance mate.." he trailed off.

I frowned a little. Walking up to the omega and hugging him tightly. "Felix, I am happy that I'm your second chance. Hell, I'd be happy if I was your 4th or 5th chance. I'm just glad to know you and be around you." I paused. "You are a good person, Lix. Don't ever let anyone tell you differently. Your smile is contagious. Your soul is so sweet, and you're just absolutely wonderful to be around. I know we haven't known each other but a day, but I can say without a doubt, you are the epitome of sunshine, and I would do anything to keep you in my life." I kissed his head softly, holding the omega in my arms.

It was quiet until I heard some sniffles coming from my sweet Felix. "Hey.. baby, why are you crying?" I broke the hug and looked at the boy, wiping away his tears.

"I've.. no one has ever said anything like that to me.. besides my parents, they don't count." He giggled lightly.

"I mean it, Felix. My world has been brightened by your presence today." I hugged him again, whispering, "Please don't leave me, Lix."

We stayed hugging for about a minute until Felix spoke up, "Hyung, don't forget about your groceries.."

"Shit.." I mumbled, breaking the hug. "Min is going to kill me if I don't hurry with his chips." I chuckled.

Felix's eyes went wide. "What?.." he asked, disbelief covering his face.

I giggled, "Not literally, baby."

He breathed a sigh of relief, "Oh.. okay."

"I have to go, but text or call me if you need me or if you just want to talk. I'm literally right next door." I smiled, kissed his cheek, and walked to the front door. "Bye, baby." I waved and walked out, leaving a flustered Felix in his kitchen.

Once I got to the car, I grabbed all of my groceries and walked inside my home. I was bombarded by my omega mates who were apparently watching through the front window.

"Was that him?" Jisung asked. I nodded, and the omega squealed. "He looks so cute!" Seungmin said, smiling wide.

"Eh, he looked okay." Jeongin replied, rolling his eyes.

"WHAT?!" Jisung shouted. "He was freaking cute, and you know it!" He pointed to the youngest omega. "You're just being jealous."

"Alright, before anyone can fight, please take these groceries. I need to talk to Chan." I said. Noticing the tone in my voice, Jisung quieted down and grabbed a couple of bags while Seungmin and Jeongin took the rest, and then I headed up the stairs to Chan's room.

I knocked on the alpha's door and waited until I heard a soft 'come in'. I opened the door to see Chan and Changbin working on something together using Chan's laptop. "Am I interrupting anything?" I asked.

"Not at all, Jinnie." Chan patted the edge of his bed opposite him and Changbin. "Come sit." I obediently walked over and sat on the bed and sighed. "What's the matter, love?" Changbin asked, concern showing in his eyes.

I looked between my mates, "So, I found out why Felix got upset about being mates with me.." I trailed off, looking down. I continued on telling my alphas what I learned while out with Felix and how I felt the whole time I was with him.

"Now that I know what happened, I'm not sure what to do. He seems to want to at least be friends, but my alpha needs more. I want him in our relationship, but I don't know where to even begin without scaring him." I couldn't bear the thought of Felix not being with me.

Chan took a deep breath and looked to the wall like he was thinking of the right things to say. "Jin, I don't want to lie to you and say that everything will be alright because truthfully, I don't know that. But," he paused for a breath, "I will say that you are doing good so far. I don't think Felix would react too well to all of us right now."

"Maybe we should introduce ourselves one by one?" Changbin added. "That way, it's a slow start, and he can meet and hang out with us on his own time."

I looked at both my mates. "Yeah, I guess that could work." I agreed.

"But first, you need to let him know about us. One of us could go with you, too, if you wanted." Chan proposed.

Hmm, that might work.

"Chan, I think Hyunjin needs to tell Felix about us first and gauge his reaction that way. I don't want to make it worse by having another alpha present when telling him." Changbin said.

He has a point..

Chan looked at the alpha next to him on the bed. "Yeah, you're probably right, Bin." He looked to me, "So, talk to Felix and let us know what he says or how he reacts to the news. It's not something you want to text him about so make plans to tell him in person, okay?"

"Okay, hyung. Thank you both so much." I replied.

"You're welcome." They both replied at the same time, making all three of us lightly chuckle.

"Well, I'm going to head to my room and rest. I brought home what everyone asked for, and the omegas put everything in the kitchen." I head out of Chan's room to go to mine.

Once I lay on my bed, I get lost in my thoughts and stare blankly at the ceiling.

So, how am I going to tell Felix?

Like.. what words do I use?

I really hope this doesn't ruin my chances with Felix.

As I lay on my bed, my eyes start to get heavy. I closed them for a minute, my thoughts only being of my sweet omega.
