Hooper was dedicated, he had always been dedicated, even when it was sheep farming or containing impossible monsters. Suffice to say his inability to be a dedicated soldier bothered him, or the fact he may have not been good enough on the mission and got hurt for it. He was supposed to be a model soldier for the foundation, literally. He was good enough that they created inferior clones of him that were still considered some of the greatest.
The doctors said that he had burns covering about 10% of his body; not awful, but definitely not good. So he was likely going to be in recovery for a bit. They had even discussed cybernetics as a way for a faster and better recovery for him, Cory had given him a weird look when he mentioned that. But he quickly dropped it and made a terminator joke."If you weren't already good, they just have to give you a terminator upgrade" He joked. "It's barely anything besides artificial skin and some chips they're talking about." "Does that still mean you can do the hand peel off thing?" "No Cory, it doesn't."Cory huffed and crossed his arms, "What's the point then ..... Why do you still have your helmet on?"
Hooper supposes one good thing about this is that he gets to just talk to his friends. Cory has tried to visit him almost everyday, today he had brought his lunch to eat with Hooper. Which might not be a big gesture to other people, but it means Cory won't be able to get thirds or fourths. Cory also has seemed to mostly get out of his weird funk he's been in for a few days.
Trianna visits him and mostly gives him updates on team exercises, site updates, etc. She's scared away plenty of overbearing doctors for him during those visits. She'll also occasionally tag along with Cory. Lara often visits with Cory, so sometimes they'll all be visiting. 'One big happy alpha strike family' as Trianna once said.
One of the updates Trianna gave him was General Flooper's worsening health, such is the fate of his clones. There hasn't been much discussion of a replacement for him. The best thing that could happen is the old general's miraculous recovery. Of course the position was always open to him, but he's happy with his squad as is.
Maybe they should take a squad photo, that'd be nice to have.
