Chapter 10: "DIG!"

The next morning, I had woken up before any of the guys, which is honestly an accomplishment for me, so I put on a white t shirt and tied the sleeves of my jumpsuit and put my hair in pigtails cause I thought they're cute and simple

After all the guys woke up, we made our way to the library, but magnet was still half asleep

I slapped him on the back of the head slightly "wake up!"

"What?"

"Stop falling asleep"

"How about you stop hitting me, luna?"

I was confused and shocked "Luna?"

"Yeah, because your the first one awake and so energetic in the morning"

I brushed it away "Shut up!"

Once we got to the dig-site, the sunrise was hard not to look at, it was beautiful

-time skip, a few hours later

I was dying, I had poured a bit of the water from my canteen on myself, it worked, but I forgot I was wearing a white shirt

I groaned, you could really see my dark green bra now.

I decided to zip my jumpsuit all the way up, but it was hot and baggy.

About 30 minutes later, I decided to unzip my jumpsuit, my shirt was still damp, but atleast you can't see my bra anymore.

Mom came around for lunch

"Okay today we have apples, graham crackers, bol-"

"WE KNOW WHAT WE'RE HAVING!" I yelled

Mom shot me a menacing glare, I did my best innocent face

I grabbed my food and sat down in a shaded area and zigzag came and kissed me

"Your gonna wanna see this" he whispered

He walked towards caveman, who apparently doesn't dig his hole.

"Hey, how about I give you my cookie and I'll dig your hole for you"

"Oh my god" I muttered

"Look, I get it man okay? I'll dig my own hole from now on" he responded

Zigzag chuckled, "he isn't gonna take it"

He bent down, "Come on, take the cookie" he said, shoving the cookie in cavemans face, he pushed Zigzag

"Hey whats going on?" Mom asked

"Nothing, we just fooling" Squid answered

"No, I saw what happened, cmon Stanley, teach him a lesson, hit him back"

"Mom, what the hell?" I asked, I couldn't believe a person who did stupid therapy and togetherness lessons would actually ENCOURAGE violence

"Yeah, teach me a lesson" Zigzag responded

Caveman seemed hesitant

"Cmon, hit me"

Caveman finally slapped Zigzag, and that must've been the last straw, because then he charged and pushed Caveman in a hole, which sparked a fight between the two

"That's enough-" Mom said

Caveman then elbowed zigzag, which then he punched caveman, he was out cold

Just as zigzag was walking towards us, zero then jumped on top of him and started choking him

"Zero get the hell off him!" I yelled, running towards zigzag

I tried priing zero off, but he kept his grip

That's when we heard a shotgun go off

Zero let go of zigzag

"I said that's enough! When I say end something I mean end it! Now get back to your holes" Mom yelled

Zigzag was gasping for breath

"Oh my god, are you okay?" I panicked

I checked to make sure there wasn't any major injuries, I found a scratch from a rock that zigzag probably hit, but other than that, no major injuries

- time skip

The warden had shown up

"Basically, there was a riot, and Zero almost killed ricky" Mom explained

"Basically" the warden repeated, she had red hair and a bunch of freckles on her face

"Zigzag tried beating up the caveman you know, then zero tried to choke him, i had to get him off" Armpit said

"Yeah, working all day in the hot sun probably made his blood boil" X-ray jumped in

"Working in the hot sun while caveman sits and does nothing" Zigzag added

The warden lowered her sunglasses "excuse me? Caveman digs his hole just like everyone else"

"Ma'am, zero has been digging a part of cavemans hole every day" Squid jumped in

She then went towards caveman

"Is this true?" She asked

"You not digging holes no more?!" Mr.sir yelled

"As long as the hole gets dug, why does it matter who's digging it?"

"Wanna know why your digging holes? It's so you build character" Mr.sir said

If your not digging holes, your not learning your lesson" the warden added

Then she asked "why aren't you digging your own hole?"

"I-im giving zero reading lessons, he's a smart kid"

"Smart?!" Mom scoffed "Hey zero, what does C-A-T spell?"

Zero didn't respond

"Yeah, he's a real genius"

The warden put her hand on her forehead "Okay from now on I want everyone to dig their holes!"

She turned towards caveman

"And no more reading lessons"

Cavemans face fell "W-Why?"

"Because I said so"

Mom then handed zero a shovel "Yeah, here, take it zero, its all you'll ever be good for"

"D-I-G , what's that spell?"

Zero didn't respond

It looked like he was gonna walk away but then he turned around and WHIPPED the shovel around and hit Mom as hard as he could , knocking him cold

He crouched

"Dig!"

He then ran away, we all all cheered

Mr sir then followed him with a pistol

"Don't shoot!" The warden yelled, "the last thing we need is an investigation"

"I want around the clock guards on all water sources" she demanded, pouring what's left of Zeros canteen on moms collapsed form

"Everyone go back to digging!"

We did as told

- time skip, after digging and in the tent

"Do you think zero will be okay?" I asked

Squid came and sat next to me

"Darling, he's dead wether or not he makes it back"

That just made me worry even more

"Jeez that wasn't the thing to say..." he muttered to himself

Squid got up and zigzag came and sat down

He kissed me

"Maybe try getting a good night sleep"

"Okay"

I layed down and closed my eyes

I fell into a dreamers sleep
