Percy PoV

"Uh I'll be right back" I mumbled to my coach, before hurrying to the changing rooms. I went to the nearest toilet stall and just made it before another wave of nausea rolled in my stomach. I sat on the cold tiles, sweating and shivering at the same time.

Why today I get sick? Like I have so many other days where I just do absolutely nothing, yet today I have a competition and judges will be watching to scout for members for team USA in the summer and I'm sick.

Wonderful.

I slowly stood up, stumbling as I made my way back to the pool. "You good Jackson? You're pale today" Coach asked. "Yeah I'm fine Coach, just uh..nerves" I lied. "Nerves? Percy you've qualified in every race this season, you're going to be fine" He promised. I plastered a smile on my face and sat down, trying to find Annabeth in the stands. After a moment of scanning, I spotted her blonde hair in the rows of people. She gave me a warm smile and I winked back.

"Okay Jackson, this is your race, good luck" Coach announced, clapping me on the back. As I made my way to the dive boards I heard some cheers in the background and saw myself on the screen. I smiled, giving a weak wave before returning my attention to the other racers in the lanes next to me.

As the horn blew and we jumped in, my legs went weak. I managed to pull through though, using the water for energy. I managed to somehow get a 3rd place win, meaning I'll have a pretty good chance of being selected. As I got out of the water, I felt more nauseous than ever and sprinted to the bathrooms, my coaches shouting behind me.

I barely reached the cubicle in time before puking my guts up, my arms shaking. I didn't hear the people running into the bathrooms over the pounding headache I had, or my coach trying to comfort me from behind.

They brought me down to a separate room with a doctor and I had to sit up as she took my temperature and blood pressure before allowing me to lay down on the couch. Next thing I know, my eyes started drooping and I fell asleep, the sounds of beeping and rustling fading into the background.

~I kidnapped Kronos to make this time skip~

Next thing I remember was waking up hearing a familiar voice. "Where is he? Is he okay?" Annabeth asked concerned, but whoever she was talking to wouldn't answer. "Ma'am please leave, the patient is asleep" the woman insisted. "Listen lady, that's my boyfriend back there, and I have a right to know what's wrong so let me in!" Annabeth protested, pushing through.

I opened my eyes and she ran over. "Percy what happened? Oh Seaweed Brain you're so warm" she whispered, feeling my forehead with her palm.

"You should have told me you were feeling terrible, it's only one race" she muttered, propping my cushion up. "I know, I'm sorry, didn't want to let the others down" I replied, pulling her close.

"It's okay, they'd want you to be safe than feeling like this" she answered, seeing how uncomfortable I was, before checking the time. "C'mon, let's get you home" she said.

That night as we were in bed at the apartment watching Netflix, she kept checking on my temperature and offering different snacks or medicine. "Wise Girl, you don't have to do this" I said, feeling guilty. "it's fine! I'm an expert at taking care of sick people, and you mister need to sleep" she insisted, kissing my foehead goodnight, and before I knew it I was passed out again.

The next morning I woke up, my hair a mess and blankets everywhere and I still felt sick. "How you doing?" Annabeth asked, seeing me wake up. "Like I just swallowed more fire" I replied, and she raised her eyebrows.

"More bedrest for you then, and lucky for you, I've not got anything to do today so I can take care of you!" She instructed.

We spent the day together watching films under heaps of fluffy blankets, occasionally sleeping. Annabeth stayed by my side the whole time, making sure I was okay. That evening, I whispered in her ear, "best sick day ever" and she smiled. "Thats good" she replied, cuddling into my arm. "Because I'll be here for all of them".
