Seraphina nervously walks among the grand school halls, beside her father. It was already daunting for her to be starting at Hogwarts in her 4th year, after moving schools, due to extenuating circumstances. The tension in the air is hard, as she looks forward to her father's black cloak a few steps ahead. "No one must know you're my daughter" his monotoned voice warns, as he turns to her. Seraphina nods, as they walk into Albus Dumbledore's head office. The office is big and grand, filled with gold accents and decoration. Albus welcomes me as a new student, surprised to be meeting me. He knew instantly how important it was to keep my identity a secret. Many topics were discussed, such as code words, my own space and what I would major with in lessons. Importantly the sorting hat was a discussion point too. Even though I would of wnted to be in my family school house. It was deemed as too obvious so we, I mean Albus and Severus decided I should be sorted into Gryffindor, ultimately for my safety. This didn't hugely bother me. Of course I would of liked to be in the same school house, my father was, but at the end of the day, I still took after him in many other ways. I excelled in potions, could practise leglimans, and was secretly titled the half blood princess. I was honestly more excited to be closer to my dad, attending Hogwarts, over my previous wizard education.
The following morning, I made my way by myself to King's cross station. I remembered the instructions, and found myself with my trunk on platform 9 three quarters, amongst the many other students waiting for the Hogwarts Express. I sit on my trunk, looking around at everyone, with their families. This makes me feel sad on the inside, but I know why I'm here alone. I notice 2 boys looking at me, across the platform. They seem like trouble, especially when they're both wearing green ties. I smile to myself, as a brown haired girl bumps into me, taking me by surprise. "Oh I'm sorry," she apologises, straightening herself up, "oh you're new" she notices my lack of tie. "I'm Pansy" she introduces holding her hand out. I shake it, "I'm Seraphina" The train pulls in, and we get on the train together. It's loud, and all hustle and bustle, as we make our way to a train carriage to sit down. Pansy sits with the 2 boys that was staring at me from across the platform. I then notice her green tie, poking from her cloak. There's an awkward silence in the carriage. The blond haired boy, breaks the silence, "Pansy, we don't allow new students to sit with us" he scolds her. The brown haired boy, with a scar on his cheek, continues to look at me, in silence. "I'm Seraphina" I speak up nervously, met with disapproving looks from both boys. Pansy smiles at me, "ignore them, they're just angry that the school holiday is over" her reassuring smile. "This is Draco and Mattheo" she finally puts names to the faces. Theo walks into our carriage, slightly stunned by me, and pauses " Uhm you look familiar?" I shake my head, "Ugh I don't know, I am new to hogwarts" I try to dispell and distract from the suspcion.
The rest of the train ride, was filled with small general chit chat, and many uncomfortable awkward silences. We arrive at the school station, greeted by a big friendly giant, named Hagrid, who leads us into the school grounds. It quickly becomes clear, I am the only new witch this term, as I notice more of everyone's coloured ties and tailored uniform to their school house. We are led into the great school hall, where all the professors are stood along the head table, and all the students sit at the respective house tables. I am stood in the middle of the hall, unsure of what to do, looking around the room. As there's whispers about the room, Theo leans into Mattheo and whispers " doesn't she look familiar?" Just as Albus Dumbldore takes a stand at his podium, calling for silence. I look up at him, the familiar face. This fills me with ease, as his powerful voice fills the room. "I hope everyone will make, our new student welcome at hogwarts. Welcome, Miss Seraphina Spinner" he claps, as the whole hall copy him. "As with tradition, Miss Spinner must be sorted into her school house" he motions for me to step forward and to take a seat on the stall. I sit at this stall, as the sorting hat is placed upon my head. It stays quiet for a bit, and then the hat takes over. "Yes.... I see.... One with skills and power, could belong in either houses, but I sense she feels strong, a leader..... Gryffindor" The hat proclaims, as the gryffindor table cheers, and the professors slow clap. I get up and walk over to the table, sitting between 2 girls, silently. Professor Snape watches with a deadpan expression on his face, as I avoid looking at him, and sitting down. He hopes this was the right decision, and is silently thankful that the sorting hat, hasn't uncovered my real identity. After our evening meal, we are shown to our common rooms, and dormitories. I see in my chest by my bed, all my tailored uniform to my house colours. Excited for my first day, though it feels weird to be in such a common room. It feels a bit elitest, and arrogance, but then again Seraphina knew in her heart that this isn't the house she should of been in. I make small introductions to some of the students that are hanging about in the common room, before retreating back to my bed in my dormitory. After all today was one long and exhausting day, and I needed the rest, and a good night's sleep before my first full day of lessons tomorrow.
