Dunk

"So?" I asked as soon as I found a comfortable position on the couch. Phuwin looked at me innocently as he ate my secret stash of chocolate cookies. "What?" I raised my eyes to the sky and I slapped his hand away from the almost empty package.

"Why did you run off like that today? Since this morning you've been avoiding the subject" Phuwin tried to take my cookies back but I was quick enough to hide them behind my back. "I don't want to talk about it" he replied, turning away his gaze and making me even more nervous.

"All right, then you're not sleeping here tonight" I crossed my arms on my chest and watched his face change. He blinked a couple of times and murmured something I couldn't hear. "Are you going to talk or..?" I insisted, raising my eyebrows to make him spit the toad.

"Fine" he moaned annoyed, settling down better on the couch and turning completely towards me. "Finally" I said, imitating his position.

"I almost did it with someone in the back of a club" I blinked a couple of times and shrugged my shoulders. "That's not new. But what do you mean by 'almost done'?" I raised an eyebrow, waiting for further explanation.

"My mother called me while we were kissing" he complained with a grimace, sinking against the back of the sofa and looking at the television to my left.

"Oh. And what does that have to do with it?"

I was sure that an important piece of the puzzle was missing and I did not intend to leave it out at all.

"It's Pond" he spat out staring at something behind me. I looked at him and turned briefly to check what was behind me. Absolutely nothing. He was going crazy.

"Where?" I asked completely disoriented. "No- not there. I mean that Pond is the boy I was talking about" he explained, gesturing confusingly. I blinked one, two, three times. I swallowed a knot that had stuck in my throat and waited for him to finally reveal that it was a joke.

"Pond Naravit" he repeated the full name when he got no verbal reaction from me. It was strange that I hadn't spoken a word yet, usually I didin't think twice to say out loud what I thought. I was shocked at myself for the lack of reaction.

"Are you kidding?" I could finally say, looking at him as if two more heads had grown out of him. Even with three heads it would have appeared less shocking than that news. Phuwin bit his lip, refusing to look at me.

"Did you use protection, Phu?" we both jumped on the place when we heard Fourth's voice coming from the fridge. He kept a door open while checking what was on the shelves. He made an unconvinced grimace and opted for an apple.

"Fourth, when did you arrive?" I asked him cautiously, trying to understand how much he had heard of my and Phuwin's conversation. The latter still held a hand on his heart and breathed heavily in a way that was far too dramatic. I shook my head and went back to Fourth, who had sat at the kitchen table and watched us waiting.

"You've been eavesdropping, haven't you?" I flinched my shoulders, now surrendered to the fact that, any private conversation I had with anyone, Fourth would come to know about it in one way or another.

"Strangely, no. But from your shocked face and Phuwin's embarrassed one, you were surely talking about one of his usual nonsense" he shrugged and tasted his apple, smiling cunningly as he chewed the bite fiercely.

"You are far too clever for your age" admitted Phuwin, sulking like a kindergarten child. " He certainly didn't take after you " he said turning in my direction. I kicked him, getting a look in return.

"Tell me, maybe I'll be more useful than my brother," I gave him the middle finger, to which Fourth replied with a funny grin.

"I was about to have sex with a popular guy from our university in the back of a club" Phuwin puffed at once. Fourth stopped chewing for a few seconds and resumed shortly after. "What's the problem?" he asked confused, taking another bite of the apple.
