Two weeks had passed since Wei Wuxian had left Cloud Recesses, his heart heavy with the weight of unspoken emotions, and his mind filled with confusion.

On their wedding night, when Wei Wuxian should have stayed by Lan Wangji’s side, he had instead left in haste, unable to bear the suffocating pressure of the new reality that had been thrust upon him.

Wei Wuxian's departure, though driven by turmoil, had left him with a deep and gnawing emptiness, and now, two weeks later, that emptiness felt unbearable.

Wei Wuxian had gone to Yunmeng Jiang sect, seeking comfort in familiar faces so he met with Jiang Fengmian and the rest of the Jiang family, trying to reclaim the fragments of his past, but nothing felt right.

The laughter that once echoed in Lotus Pier now felt hollow, the warmth of the Jiang family unable to fill the growing void in his heart.

The absence of Lan Wangji haunted Wei Wuxian every waking moment even the silence of Cloud Recesses, once a place of peace and refuge, now felt like a vast and lonely expanse, the weight of his actions pulling him deeper into despair.

But as the days passed, Wei Wuxian could no longer ignore the ache in his chest and the ache of missing Lan Wangji, the man he had married, the man who had stood by his side through thick and thin.

Wei Wuxian had abandoned Lan Wangji, left him alone on the most important night of their lives.

The guilt of that decision weighed heavily on Wei Wuxian, and with each passing day, his longing for Lan Wangji grew stronger.

Wei Wuxian finally returned to Cloud Recesses, his heart heavy with regret of his past so the moment he stepped back onto the familiar grounds, a deep sense of loss overwhelmed him.

The place no longer felt like home in Bloom Lotus Courtyard and the echo of his steps seemed louder, the walls felt colder, and the wind carried the scent of memories that could never be undone.

Wei Wuxian reached Lan Wangji’s residence Jingshi, his heart pounded in his chest, unsure of how to begin.

Wei Wuxian had so many things to say, so many apologies to make, but the moment he saw Lan Wangji, standing there, his expression stoic and unreadable, all of his carefully rehearsed words escaped him.

Lan Wangji, as always, appeared calm on the outside, but his eyes, those deep, sorrowful eyes spoke volumes.

The distance between them had grown, not just in space, but in heart and Wei Wuxian could feel it, the coldness that had settled between them.

Wei Wuxian’s voice cracked as he finally spoke, “I am sorry. I shouldn’t have left you that time, not like that. I should have stayed with you. I was a fool.”

Lan Wangji’s gaze softened, but there was no warmth in it as his voice, though quiet, held a firmness that cut through the air like a blade.

Lan Wangji's question was simple, yet it carried the weight of weeks of pain and confusion, “Why did you leave me on the night we should have started our journey together? Like others you also think only about yourself and no one cares about me. Now what have you come back here to do and go back to where you were for the last two weeks.”

Wei Wuxian’s chest tightened so he couldn’t answer that, at least not with words, not with anything.

Wei Wuxian had no excuse for abandoning his partner, for abandoning the omega who had always stood by him, even when the world had turned its back on them.
