It was midnight and Vaiga was all ready to enter that room no matter what. She checked on Agastya and after confirming he was in deep slumber, she slowly got up from the bed and tipped towards the door.

She was about to open the door when she heard the noise of someone whimpering. She looked back and saw Agastya mumbling in sleep and clutching the quilt like his life depends on it. She rushed towards him and tapped on his cheeks.

"Agastya, wake up". She called him but he gave no response. She sprinkled little water on his face to wake him up. He woke up with a jolt, gasping for breath.

"Calm down, Agastya. It was just a dream". She said but what shocked her was he hugged her. The moment he saw her, he hugged her.

Vaiga who was in shock could do nothing. This was the first time they both were this close to each other. She rubbed his back to calm him down. She felt his tense muscles relaxing under her touch.

"It's fine. It was just a dream. Do think about it ". She assured him. "Here, drink this water ". She handed him a glass of water which he gulped in one go. He was really disturbed by this dream. "Do you wanna talk about it?" She asked him though she knew he wouldn't. He shook his head and laid back in bed.

Now the situation was not right for her to go so she went to her side and laid there. "Vaiga!". Agastya called her in a slow voice. She turned back to look at him to see him already looking at her.

"What happened? Do you want something?" She asked. He shook his head and said,"The dream. I will tell you about it. But not now. I hope you will understand what I am trying to say". She smiled hearing him. At least he was trying to open up.

"If you don't mind... Can I hug you?" He asked nervously. This was the first time he was nervous while asking something. She smiled and opened her arms for him. "I'm your wife. You don't need to ask for my permission ". He came closer to her and hugged her. He felt home in her embrace. The home which he always craved for. The peace which he was looking for all these years.

The next morning Vaiga woke up and the first thing she was the face of sleeping Agastya. He looked cute in his sleep. With no frowns and tensed marks on his forehead. His hair falling on his forehead was disturbing his sleep so she pushed them back and pulled the quilt to cover him up properly. She smiled looking at his face.

No wonder why the females were after him. He was surely handsome. The perfect man every girl wishes for and she was lucky to have him as her husband. Though he never cared about her, she knew somewhere he was worried for her. She was now sure about it after the incident where he came running after her when she came to know the danger lingering around him.

She carefully removed his hand from her waist and kept a pillow there. She went to freshen up for her work.

After a few minutes she came back all set to go for work. She came out and saw Agastya talking on the phone. "Yeah I will be there. Keep everything ready". He cut his call and got up to freshen up. He turned back and saw Vaiga drying her hair with a towel.

He stood there,looking lost in his wife. He was thankful to her for taking care of him last night. She has a big heart and never hesitates before helping someone.

Vaiga felt someone's gaze on her, she looked back and saw Agastya standing near the bathroom door, staring at her. She came towards him and snapped her fingers. "Where were you lost?" She asked him. He shook his head and hurriedly went inside the bathroom. Blushing Agastya was a sight to see. She chuckled at his behavior and went down to make breakfast.

After a few minutes she saw Agastya coming in his formals. He sat down on his chair and started having his breakfast. "Are you going somewhere?" His mother asked him who nodded his head in response. "I have told you not to leave this house but still you don't listen".

His mother yelled at him. He sighed and looked at his mother. "I have an important meeting to attend and I have to be present there". He said in a calmed voice.

"But -"

"Don't worry. I will be back safe and sound. I promise you".

He finished his breakfast and left with his car keys. Vaiga followed him to the door. "Agastya!". She called him who was about to enter the car. He looked back at her with a raised eyebrow. She hurriedly went towards him.

"Be safe. And message me when you reach there. I know you won't be able to call me. And message me when you will reach home after your meeting. Please be safe." She said in a worried tone.

Agastya smiled looking at his wife who was worried about him. "Don't worry. I will message you. I will be safe. Okay?" He said and took her in a bone crashing hug. Her breath hitched being this close to him. She patted his back to leave him as she was not able to breathe properly. He left her but held her close to him.

"Have your meals on time. Don't roam around in hospital. I heard you are roaming around the hospital and playing with children in the name of taking rounds in hospital". She looked at him wide eyes. She made sure no one know about it but how did he get know.

"I have my ways dear". He said and pulled his hands back and left with his car leaving a blushing Vaiga back. She was stuck on the word 'dear' and again blushed hiding her face in her palms.

Vaiga was sitting in her office checking some files when her phone pinged. She took it and saw Agastya's message.
'I have reached safely here. Don't take any stress. And have your meals on time.'

She smilled looking at the message and reply to him. Keeping her phone aside she started doing her work.

It was evening and her time to leave for home. She was packing her bag when a nurse barged inside and said, "Mam, there's an emergency. An accident case. He have lost a lot of blood. He has hit his head so badly". Saying this she ran out and Vaiga followed her behind.

She got ready and came inside the ot room. She checked the patient's report. He was badly injured and have deep wound on his head. "Mam, his blood pressure is dropping". The nurse said. Vaiga removed the cloth from the patients face.

She felt as if the ground has slipped underneath her feet. She felt numb.

"A-Agastya"
