On the contrary, the royals of Goryeo had reached midway in their journey. After crossing the Elsiye, they settled to rest.
Pitching their tents under the evening sky, which looked ethereal with its hues of twilight.
The Emeritus and his husband stood on a stone, while the other three busied themselves with setting up the tents, a bit farther Clad in a white and golden hanfu, Jin looked enchanting.
"Staring at someone shamelessly is forbidden, my beloved,"
his gentle, teasing voice broke the spell of Namjoon's enchantment.
He chuckled and back-hugged Seokjin resting his chin on his shoulder.
"Someone? For your kind information You. are. mine. I can stare at you, hold you, hug you. I have the authority to admire you get it my beloved."
He whispered in Seokjin's ear, making hin giggle at his antics. he shook his head, amused.
The weather seemed to bless them, with stars slowly twinkling in the indigo sky and the half-moon casting an ethereal glow.
The river before them shimmered enchantingly, adding to the serene beauty of the moment.
They stood there, embracing each other, sharing warmth in the cool evening air.
Namjoon noticed the distress in Jin's demeanor and tightened his grip around him. "May I know the cause of my beloved's uneasiness?"
He queried softly, placing a gentle kiss on his neck. The Emeritus closed his eyes at the comforting gesture and rested his head on his shoulder.
"Our son is in distress. How can I not be? I was so delighted to announce their wedding, but unfortunately, nothing happened as we hoped," he whispered, voice laden with turmoil.
The retired Emperor stood there, at a loss for words to comfort his husband, and simply tightened his embrace.
"God knows better, love," he murmured, hoping his presence could offer some solace.
They remained entwined, the silence between them filled with unspoken words and shared sorrow.
The Emeritus sighed, heis breath mingling with the cool evening air.
"I just wish there was something more we could do," he murmured, his voice barely audible.
Namjoon kissed the top of his head, his heart aching for Seokjin.
"We have done all we can, my love. Sometimes, the path we wish for our children is not the one they must walk. We must trust that they will find their way, even if it is not the way we envisioned."
The Emeritus nodded, though his heart was heavy. "I know you are right. It is just so hard to see him suffer."
He held him tighter, wishing he could take away his pain. "We will be there for him, no matter what. That is all we can do."
The stars above seemed to twinkle in agreement, casting their gentle light over the couple.
The river flowed serenely beside them, a reminder that life, like the water, must continue to move forward.
As they stood there, drawing strength from each other, the sounds of the camp settling for the night surrounded them.
The distant murmur of voices, the rustle of fabric as tents were secured, and the occasional whinny of a horse created a symphony of normalcy that contrasted with the turmoil in their hearts.
Finally, the Emeritus pulled back slightly, looking up into his husband's eyes. "Thank you for always being my rock," he said softly.
Namjoon smiled, brushing a stray lock of hair from his face. "And thank you for being my light," he replied.
