King Zachary was in the weaponry when he felt a cold breeze run up his spine. He was not alone in the room. Something or someone was with him. The king drew his sword. "Who's there?" There was answer. A whisper, soft as the wind spoke after a moment of silence.
"Zachary." The voice said near his ear.
Turning Zachary saw nothing. Was he imaging this? Was he going mad? He didn't know. Again the voice whispered his name. The king blinked and before him the shape of a man stood.
The figure had long blonde hair and deep blue eyes. He was tall and slender build. A crown of gold with rubies and sapphires rested upon his head. A long sword was by his side. "So, you are Zachary, King of Wolf's Den and Dragon's Cave. Son of King James II and Queen Katherine." The man said.
Zachary bowed. "m'Lord. You must be King Ageon I."
"Rise my son." Ageon said.
Zachary rose to his feet. "I do not wish that I am worthy of the honor of such a great king of old."
Ageon laughed. "I am here to aid you in your rule. You alone are able to see me because you are the son of a Rider. When I ruled the dragons were everywhere. There were the Guardians of the sky. Protectors of their riders."
Zachary was quiet for a moment before replying. "Does my mother have to ability to see you m'Lord?"
Ageon nodded. "Yes. Her ancestor, Lord Robert, was around when I was alive. He was my Hand and loyal friend. Together we reigned until my death."
The door to the Weaponry opened. "Father?" It was Edward who was on his way to his chamber when he noticed the candle flickering in the window.
Ageon vanished and left Zachary alone.
The king took the candle and walked back up the steps to where his son was waiting. He closed the door behind him. "What is it my son? Does your mother know your heading to bed?"
"Yes father. Who were you talking to down there? Mother says the Weaponry is haunted."
"It was no one Edward. Run along to your chamber." Zachary smiled.
Edward nodded. "Yes father." He continued his way to his bedchamber. He stopped at the door. "Will you take me hunting tomorrow?"
King Zachary smiled. "Of course." Zachary entered his own chamber and set the candle down on the dresser. He stretched and pulled his tunic over his head on set it on the table next to him.
10 minuets later Elsa joined him. She had returned from a meeting with Katherine. The Queen smiled when she saw her husband. "Did I hear you tell Edward that you would take him hunting?"
"Aye I did. It is time for his first hunting trip my love."
"Zachary, he's only 12 years old. Can't you wait?" The queen asked.
"Elsa, its time for our son to start learning how to be a man. I never had a father to teach me how to hunt and fight. I want Edward to have that Elsa. I want to teach him how to be a man."
"There are other ways to show him how to be a man besides hunting and fighting." The queen said climbing into bed.
