Diamonds, mainly Pink, would have strange dreams. In those dreams, they would relive old memories. Pink was the only diamond who wasn't an insomniac, a trait that carried over from your past life. She had picked up the habit of sleeping from organic inhabitants on one of your older colonies, G-517-Sol. Or as humans called it, Mars. The mining for resources had killed off the inhabitants, and after you had stripped the atmosphere of natural gases to be used for gem and weapon research and development, you had left the planet alone. Strangely enough, this world also had a G-517-Sol colony, but when you flew out to the planet to investigate, (Since Lapis's could fly through space at unimaginable speeds, a Lapis actually had recently arrived from the old earth colony screeching something about Crystal Gems in your last life) you determined that this Mars wasn't the same one as the one from your universe. You memorized all of your colonies to your best extent. Mars had been a favorite of yours, actually.
Anyways, Pink loved sleeping. She used to say she did it out of stress, and that Yellow should give it a try. Yellow never did though, until after Pink's death. Speaking of strange dreams, you had recurring ones of an old childhood friend.
Years ago... two months after you reformed from the house fire:
"At it again, Touya?" You asked. He scowled, and turned back to training. The two of you had made these daily visits a routine.
"Yes, I am, in fact. I'm going to show dad that I can be a hero, and that he should start training me again."
"That's stupid."
"What do you know, brat?!" He snapped. You sighed tiredly.
"Your father is a piece of shit. I don't know who he is," You glanced over to an interesting rock. "But he wont respect or see you, no matter what you do. Hurting yourself for someone who stopped caring long ago wont make you a hero." You gathered nearby water particles, and formed a chain, quickly wrapping it around Touya's right ankle. He gasped in surprise s you flipped him over, swung the icy chain over a nearby tree branch, and dangled him upside down from it.
"What are you doing, brat!?" You slapped him upside the head lightly.
"Beaten by a child. Pathetic. If you want to get stronger, then learn some hand to hand combat and grow some muscle. You cant just rely on your quirk."
"Why are you telling me this???" You flipped him right side up, so that he wouldn't pass out or throw up. Right now, you didn't care about the house fire. You didn't care about anything. You saw so much of Yellow in him... working so hard, even if hurt him, to get noticed by someone who would never look their way...
"Because you remind me of... someone I used to know. Now, I'll help you get stronger, but promise me this!" You broke the chain and he stumbled when he was released, falling over, before glaring up at you, with slight confusion. "Get stronger for you. Be your own hero. Don't do it for someone else. Do it for yourself."
Touya was silent for a moment. He didn't know what to say. This young child, so wise, and... so amazing. You were so strong. You could help him, not only to get stronger, but to show him how to be a hero. A true hero. He stared at your hand, before grasping it firmly. "Okay. I'm in."
"Now take this half of this friendship necklaced!" You held out half a heart on a thin chain to him.
"What."
"Momma gave it to me!! She told me to give it to someone I'm close with! And besides... you honestly look like you need friends."
"Hah? Fine, brat..." He grumbled but you saw a small smile on his face as he put on the necklace.
What a nice kid.
Fun fact! [Name] still wears her half of the necklace to this day!
Also like i have a hard time writing when im tired, okay? Sorry its so short...
