Angel stood frozen in her spot, her eyes widened at Salvatore's words.
The hallway was dimly lit and was oddly quiet for Angel's liking. The walls were decorated with ancient portraits and paintings, and grand chandeliers hung gracefully from the golden patterned ceiling.
"What are you talking about?" She stated bravely as she pushed her chest up to appear more confident. However, inside her shivering body all she felt was fear and anxiety.
A dark chuckle erupted from Salvatore's mouth, his eyes darkened as he leaned closer to the nervous girl.
"You know exactly what i mean piccola ragazza" His breath was chilling and fell against her soft cheeks, goosebumps arose on her skin. (little girl)
Angel struggled to breathe as she felt his tall and dominating body so close to her shivering one. All confidence she once tried to have, had vanished suddenly.
"I... I just saw you looking... sad" She sighed as her words came out brittle and soft. Her struggle to breath was the only noise heard in the grand hallway.
Salvatore remained silent and still, his quietness made Angel fidget under his intense gaze.
Salvatore was surprised to hear that Angel had noticed his unhappiness.
He was always known as the ruthless Don who carried dominance and toxic masculinity, who was told to never show his tears or express any sort of emotion.
She was innocent, empathetic, artistic and open minded. She was like a ray of sunshine, lighting up every room she walked into. Every detail about her Salvatore admired.
She was divine and heavenly, holding elegance as she would saunter curiously around the estate.
She often got bored and lonely with no one to talk to and would wonder around, frequently getting in trouble from either her father or Salvatore.
Salvatore was always hard on the young girl.
Correcting her every mistake and giving her the cold shoulder constantly.
He missed the connection they once shared together. When they were both youthful and adventurous, sneaking out of the estate together and running through the fields.
Even though they had an age gap, he still cared greatly for the darling child.
However, once he took over as the Don of the Italian Mafia, he had ceased being nice to the young girl and their connection which once sparked had been dimmed.
He focused more on his work and protecting his family and men, rather then being kind to some stupid little girl.
Salvatore's dark feelings hadn't developed until he saw her on her eighteenth birthday. Her parents held a great gathering and invited all sorts of people from the mafia world.
