The Biology Teacher

I watched him sit next to me and I couldn't help but blush when he sat down. Liam was suddenly really close to me and my heart was now racing and I felt like I was going to pass out.. "Oh hey again Lola. I see you got changed." he said with a smile and I thought I saw him blush a little but I must of imagined it.

"Oh hey Liam. Yeah Kate helped me out and gave me a spare outfit." I said as I pulled on my top to show that it wasn't mine. "She is such a star. I don't know what I would do without her to be honest" I stated as I looked over to her and waved and she returned the wave with an amazing smile. She was just flawless and usually I would of been jealous of her figure but this time I was happy just because she was my friend.

Liam was about to say something before getting interrupted by the teacher. "Hello class my name is Gareth Haze and I will be teaching you Biology for this year. I hope you are all prepared to learn otherwise you know where the door is." I was a bit taken aback by what he had said since he was so upfront about it. He looked over at Liam and he recognised him. "This is an example of what happens when you don't try hard." He said pointing over at Liam. He started to go red but he tried to act cool and waved at the class. "Now Mr Clone was in my class last year and decided to mess about for the whole year so now he is back in my class." he turned to look at Liam. "I hope this year you will concentrate and get at least a pass. I don't want to see you again next year." He laughed to show he was joking but something about him just made me feel uncomfortable.

For the rest of the lesson Liam kept his head down and doodled on his paper and when we had to do group he would do the work himself and left me to stand there awkwardly behind me while Gareth gave me funny looks. I wanted to make a good impression but for this teacher I don't think it really mattered since he judges us from our GCSE results. I saw him walking over to me and I wasn't ready to talk to him since I was really nervous being in that class. "Hey Lola, I am surprised to see that you aren't getting involved. I hope you won't get distracted because I am counting on you to get good grades." I knew the distraction was meant to be Liam because he drifted his eyes to him when he spoke to me.

I didn't know what to say to that. "Ummm yeah I am sure I will try my best to get good grades and I am sure I won't get distracted by anything sir" I said reassuring him that I was a good student even though I hadn't done anything that lesson. He walked off and continued teaching new things to the class but I had already learnt a lot of the things since I did a lot of reading in the summer. Yes I know I am such a loser for that but I had nothing else to do.

The bell rung in my ears and everyone started to pack up and as I was about to turn to talk to Liam he rushed out of the classroom. I packed up as fast as I can and saw Kate look at me to indicate for me to wait for her. I decided I would wait for her and talk to Liam next lesson. I looked at my timetable and I didn't have Biology until last thing tomorrow. I was really quite upset about that but I had a free next so I will be able to go into town and buy some new clothes that I wanted. Kate finally caught up to me. "Hey Lola, I have a free next. What have you got?" I smiled when I realised I woudln't have to go shopping by myself.

"I have a free next too" I informed her and she let out an excited scream. I smiled at her as we walked out of the Biology class. "Where do you want to go?" I asked hoping she said shopping or something not too girly. She smiled at me as she had an idea.

"I want to go to the study centre and research some things that Gareth said in class. Maybe you should go talk to Liam and see if he is okay." She giggled after but stopped herself by putting her hand to her mouth. I was shocked that she even suggested that.

"Why would I want to do that?" I questioned with an awkward chuckle but felt my cheeks heat up as I blushed. She smiled at me knowing exactly why I wanted to.

"Well I saw what happened before you went into the bathroom this morning. You like him and he is all by himself over there so you can have your chance before that Natalie gets back. I have always hated her." I could tell she meant it because she pulled a face when she said Natalie's name. I didn't know why she hated her so much but I will have to ask about that later. I was just happy I would have the opportunity to be with Liam alone.

I turned and waved Kate goodbye and walked towards Liam trying to think of what to say. I finally got to him and casually said "Hey". He looked up at me and smiled then put his head to look at the floor again. I decided to just ask him what I wanted to. "Why does Gareth hate you so much?" I saw him move as if he was uncomfortable.

"He doesn't hate me, he just rather dislikes me. He is my stepdad and I had a big argument with my mum a couple of months ago and ever since then he doesn't like me" He looked like he was about to cry and I just put my hand on his to support him. I was about to ask him another question but was stopped when a girl was stood by us. I looked up and it was Natalie and before I could move away I was pushed by her.

"What the hell are you doing with Liam?!" Natalie shouted at me and attracted some people to look over at us. I started going red and looking around for some help but I didn't recognise anybody. I really hope Kate will come back and save me.

"umm... I w-w-was just asking about s-something" I manage to say after I was scared of what she might do to me. I felt her grab hold of my wrist tightly and pull me up. It started to hurt a lot and I couldn't get out of her grip. I was shocked Liam didn't do anything but sit there still looking at the floor.

"Just because you are friends with Kate doesn't mean you have the right to get with my boyfriend." She emphasised the word boyfriend to show that he was hers. "You hear that freak." That is when the memories flooded back and I pulled harshly to get out of her grip and ran out of the college and I ran into someone. I looked up at the rock I had just hit and it was guy smiling down at me. He had a concerned look on his face and he just hugged me when he saw tears. I thought this was all weird but it felt nice and I wonder who he is....
