The Family Meal

I didn’t know what to say anymore. Well I didn’t have to say anything since he could read my mind. I tried to make my mind blank but I couldn’t help but think about what he had just said. “I know it is a shock but just calm down.” I still was in shock but I had realised I was panicking and my breath had started to increase. 

“What does everyone else do?” I asked hoping it will stop him from reading my mind.

“Oh Hazel can be invisible when she wants and Diane can talk to animals. Diane’s isn’t that good.” He said teasing Diane.

“Hey but I can beat you up any day mind boy.” Diane shouted back at him. They both laughed and I couldn’t help but stand there and be amazed by all of this.

“Come with me.” Marcus said holding out his hand and taking me to another room. “I am fascinated by you Lola.” He said as we sat down on a bench.

“Why are you fascinated with me? You have a great gift and I wish you didn’t read my mind sometimes.” I said and it just clicked, “That is why you went off at Liam. Oh crap you know I like Liam.” I then creased, “And you know I like you too.” I said bowing my head again blushing. I couldn’t speak to him at this present moment in time.

“I mean it I am and yes I know those things but it shouldn’t affect us. Your mind is amplified in my mind and I don’t know why this is but it happens. All I can hear is your mind so I know everything about you. You are special and also I believe you are special. You may have a power like Hazel did but she started to change that is when we had to take her away from her family and she completely changed so don’t believe all the stories you hear. We had no choice.” He explained.

“So you felt like this with Hazel” I questioned.

“No I only noticed her thoughts were getting louder when she started to change. Whereas you would have noticed something about you changing by now if that were the case. I just can’t get you out of my head so your thoughts just get louder and louder each day. The thought of Liam kissing you killed me that is why I would gladly beat him up for you because he hurt you by doing that. If it was your choice I wouldn’t have cared as much but it really affected me that it hurt you because it felt like I was getting hurt as well. I felt what you felt and I have never felt this way with anyone Lola.” I saw shocked and couldn’t understand what happened until he put his hand on my cheek. He moved closer to me and gently kissed me on the lips for a second and leaned back again. It wasn’t like the kiss with Liam. This one felt a lot more special than Liam’s. “Is that all you can think about when I did that?” He said snapping me out of my thoughts since I was comparing him to Liam.

“Oh sorry. It’s just that it’s weird, me kissing two boys in one day.” I said and made a ‘pfft’ sound with my mouth. He didn’t take it that well since he looked sad. I couldn’t help but want to cuddle him and make him happy again.

“Why don’t you then?” He said lifting his arm up so I can slide next to him.

“You will have to stop doing that.” I said laughing because I thought it was cute. “I will have to control what I think now. God forbid the day when something embarrassing happens.” I laughed and realised that one day that will happen. He started to laugh at me as I was thinking of the time I wet myself from laughing too hard at my friend’s a couple years ago. “Oh my God stop it.” I said standing up and moving away. I had my head in my hands about to cry. I felt arms fly around me and hug me.

“Don’t worry sweetheart. You’re secret is safe with me.” He said as he winked at me. I looked at his watch and I had been gone for nearly an hour.

“Crap I better get back.” I said rushing to his car but he wasn’t moving so I grabbed the front of his jumper and dragged him to the car. He got in an eventually I was home.
