I was there looking at Marcus with awe and couldn't take my eyes off him. "I am far from beautiful" I said moving my head down hiding my bluch. He put his finger under my chin and lifted my head up to see meface to face.
"You are beautiful." He said with the most serious voice and I thought I saw his eyes turn a bit lighter but it must of just been the lighting in the room. I was lost in a moment with him when someone coughed behind Marcus. I looked around to see the girl by him. I smiled at her then remembered all the stories I got told and turned my whole body away from Marcus and crossed my arms so he couldn't pull me to face him again. He confirmed my thoughts.
"She isn't my girlfriend and don't believe what you always hear. I should know." He said making me confused but all of his friends laughed. I still didn't turn to him. "Okay believe everyone else but the only people that know this story is me, Hazel, Lucas and Diane." I finally knew everyones name and thought the names were all quite unusual. I looked around to see them all looking at me as if to say give Marcus a chance. I looked around and the film was starting when I saw Liam come into the cinema with Natalie and sat in front of us. I dropped down in my seat to avoid him seeing me but he smiled at me and I waved. "You like him" Marcus said whispering in my ear. I started blushing again. Did he guess that I liked him as well?
"No I don't.I just know him because he is my brother's best friend. But I hate his girlfriend" I said but realised how it might of sounded. "No I mean because she cheated onmy brother not that I am jealous." I realised I was talking a bit loud.
"Excuse me I am trying to watch a film so will you just shut up!" Natalie shouted at me but then saw I was with Marcus. "Oh I am sorry to disturb you I just heard talking. Sorry again" She said as she sat back down.
"They really do believe the stories don't they?" I nudged Marcus and realised I was meant to be mad at him but I couldn't help but smileto know I am sitting by him. We were all quiet then to let the movie play and not disturb the other people. I did look over at him a couple of times and when I did he smiled and looked at me back.
"You know you don't have to keep staring at me" He whispered and I went red but luckily the lights were off so he couldn't see. The rest of the movie was done and the lights came up and everyone was getting up. Liam got up with Natalie and she started to walk and Liam turned around to look at me and smiled and leant towards me to tell me something
"Lola be careful. I will be outside and if you want you can come with me and I will drop you off at home if you want to leave." Marcus moved next to me and he pushed Liam away.
"I think you should leave yourself" Marcus said to Liam with an angry voice. I saw his eyes flicker a different colour, almost red. I just shook my head since it can't be right. I pushed Marcus back to let go of Liam because I didn't want a big fight to happen and Liam looked at me as if he was ashamed off me and I blushed feeling guilty that he was upset with me. Marcus saw this on my face and grabbed my hand. "He will forgive you. I promise" Marcus said making me smile but only a little smile so he didn't know I was smitten with him.
We all left the cinema and I realised I was still holding hands with him and I saw Liam again talking on his mobile and he looked very serious. I wanted to go over to him and hug him because he looked really sad. As I was thinking this Marcus grabbed me and hugged me because he must of known I was upset. I didn't understand why he acted like this it wasn't as if I was crying I was only thinking about how upsetting Liam's life is.
"Why did you hug me?" I said looking confused.
"You needed it." He explained but I still wasn't convinced by it. I just nodded and watched Liam leave with Natalie hand in hand and I felt even worse now.
"I should get home now. I promised my Dad I would be back straight after." I explained about to run out and go cry at home.
"Well he won't know it has finished. I can take you to dinner if you want?"Marcus suggested.
"Yeah you should join us." Hazel piped up. I hadn't actually heard any of his friends speak before but she had such a beautiful voice if that was possible. She is someone you couldn't say no to.
"Okay I will come with you but only something small." I said but I wasn't convinced it would be a short meal. We went to the restaurant next to the cinema which was chinese food and all you can eat and I was very hungry so I knew I was going to be here for a while. We got given a big table so his friends sat on the other side chatting and eating food and I was by myself with Marcus.
"So tell me, how did you get my number?" I asked quietly still curious about all that was happening.
"I know people and I needed to see you. I haven't stopped thinking about you." I still wasa bit freaked out by this all.
"Why didn't you just ask for my number?"I asked so he could convince me he wasn't a complete creep.
"I couldn't. People are watching you and if they find out you are with me then I could never protect you from what is coming."
"What do you mean?" I asked feeling a bit scared.
"I need to tell you something." He explained but as he was about to say my phone buzzed but I wanted to know what the secret was. I noticed it kept buzzing and I was having a phone call. "You should get that. It might be important."Marcus said pointing at my pocket.I got my phone out and noticed it was my Dad and he had been trying to ring all night but I hadn't realised my phone going off before. I took the call and he wanted me home and he seemed really mad.
"I have got to go my Dad is freaking out. He told me not to be late because of..." I stopped because he warned me off from them. "It doesn't matter I just have to go." I picked up my jacket and ran out. No one followed me which I was glad because then my Dad won't know I was with them.
I got home and I was out of breath because of running all the way home. I was really panicked because I had never gone against my Mum and Dad. I had always been the good child and Paul was the one to get shouted at for staying out too late. I opened the door and saw Dad and Paul standing in the kitchen looking worried. Dad saw it was me and came and hugged me straight away and I didn't know what was happening.
"Oh, I am really glad you are safe Lola. I heard who you were with and I will talk about that later I am just glad you are safe for now." He said as he was hugging me. I was really confused and I saw Paul give me a weird look and he walked out of the kitchen to talk to someone else. Dad let go and went to get his cup of tea. I carried on into the living room and saw Paul and Liam sitting down watching tele. I saw Liam first and he gave me an apologetic face and I knew he was the one who told them I was with Marcus.
"How could you? After all of us warning you Lola. You have only just moved here we don't want you to leave us again. But this time you won't know us and never see us again if you carry on talking to him. Leave him alone and if I see you with him again I won't just sit back I will take action." I felt really guilty and couldn't speak to him and lowered my head so he couldn't see my face since my eyes had watered up. "Don't bother crying because I am not here to care about if I hurt you I am here to care if anyone else hurts you and if they do I will kill them." Paul said storming out and I was left with Liam. I sat down on the sofa and Liam came and knelt in front of me. A tear strolled down my face but before it could reach my cheek Liam stopped it. He lifted my head up just like Marcus did at the cinema and he smiled at me. I gave him a little smileback but then bowed my head again to avoid eye contact. Then I saw him stand up again.
"Lola you better go to sleep now and if you didn't already guessed you are grounded and banned from seeing him ever again." I stood up and walked away and looked back at Liam and he smiled again and it made me cry even more. "Thank you again Liam for telling us. I will see you soon." Then Liam left and I was alone in my room. My phone buzzed from an unknown number "I hope you don't listen to them." It said and I didn't reply and I fell asleep crying as I thought about that moment downstairs with Liam. Then there was darkness as I fell asleep.
