Brother Mine, Brother Gone

4.5 Billion Years Ago...

???'s P.O.V

I was in my room, if you could even call it that. More like a cell, or a big cage. Yeah, that's what it is. A big cage. At least I get a roommate... my brother.

I laid on the floor mattress I was given, curled up, refusing to cry after what they did to me. They've done crazy experiments, but nothing like this, nothing like actually turning me into... a freak.

I whimpered quietly into my pillow as my older brother came to my side. No, we weren't actually related, but I've always thought of him as an older brother.

They'd turned my brother into a freak a while ago. Except his appendages didn't grow... mine did. My brother was- is a hedgehog... But then they attached horns to him and gave him huge fangs.

He came to my bed and sat next to me, rubbing my arm. "Hey... I know you think that your... um... appendage is weird... but-!" "Face it, it's hopeless... This thing's gonna be stuck with me forever."

My brother smiled a little, speaking out to me in comfort, "I like your tail... it's cool!" I gave him a blank look, but I could tell he saw straight through. He sighed, "Pi... I like it, really. It's really cool! We could play games with it-"

I snapped, "AND WHAT ABOUT THESE FRICKIN' TEETH THAT ARE CUTTING MY OWN MOUTH?! WE GONNA PLAY WITH THOSE TOO?! RIP THEM OUT?!" My brother was shocked, I could see the heart break on his face.

I immediately felt bad and then sat up to hug him, "I'm sorry!! I'm sorry..." I whimpered, him changing his sitting position to criss-crossed as he pulled me into his lap.

I clung to him as I slowly broke down into tears... and then a full-blown breakdown. Sobbing, a little snot, sniffling, coughing, a few hiccups- yes, the whole debacle.

Well, whaddya expect from me?! I'm only 6...

My brother is 13...

Yeah, he's a lot older than me. He's been in here way longer than me. I sobbed into him and cried. "They... I'm a freak now... look at me... I'm so sorry... I... I love you, big brother." He smiled, "I love you too, Pai-Pai. I love you too..."

That didn't last long... The scientists came to our cell, about 3 months later.

The careless mobian banged on the bars. "Hey! Baby!" I glared a look that could kill, the spikes on my tail rising in hostility. "Hey, hey... I want the other kid. Y'know, the one that's not fun-?"

"You mean the tough one?~" My brother smirked, teasing the man who rolled his eyes. "...You're up, freak." My brother snarled, "The only 'freak' in here is yo-" He was cut off. "If you want nothing bad to happen to your roommate, then I suggest you get the hell up, Subject #89."

I growled, "His name is-" "I really don't care, 90. Come here, 89." My brother grumbled and got up, following him. But as he grabbed him, my ears perked up.

"This will be your last visit, you useless freak..." No... They'd deemed him as useless. And when something's useless... they... no... I scrambled to my feet and ran to the door, squeezing through before it shut.

I watched my brother get pulled away by the scientist and I yelled, "NO! YOU CAN'T KILL MY BROTHER!!!" I started to chase them but was stopped by another scientist. My brother heard me and realized what was happening. He struggled against his grip and tried to get back to me. "NO!!! HE NEEDS ME! LET ME GO!!!" He struggled.

We both fought till I lost it... my eyes glowed red. "LET GO OF MY BROTHER!!!" The power was too strong, the scientists lit up in flames. The whole place did. The walls burned... and they still took him.

They were dragging him through the flames, and I followed. They were throwing him in a tube and they pressed a button. I looked on the screen...

They were draining the air from the tube...

I screamed "NO!!!" with tears in my eyes... it was almost silent as I heard the screams of the others, the thoughts running through my head, the... the pain... of the fire...

On my leg...

I ran to the tube, but I was too late... I watched as his pale, innocent body dropped... and died... before my very eyes.

I screamed bloody murder and the whole place lit up in flames, killing everyone inside...

Including myself...
