As the girls reached their homes, the initial comfort of familiar surroundings quickly shifted to a sense of suffocation. It wasn't long before discussions of their upcoming marriages emerged, leaving them cornered by family members eager to celebrate

At Lysandra's Home

"Lysandra," her mother called, pulling out a fabric swatch. "Look at this silk! Perfect for your wedding dress, don't you think?"

"Wedding dress?" Lysandra echoed, trying to mask her shock.

"Yes, dear. Tom is eager to finalize the date. Isn't that exciting?"

Lysandra clenched her fists. "Exciting? Mum, I never agreed to this. I barely know him!"

Her mother gave her a gentle, dismissive smile. "You'll have plenty of time to know him once you're married. Love can grow."

"But I don't want it to grow," Lysandra muttered under her breath.

At Celeste's Home

Celeste's mother barely let her settle in before rushing over with a bundle of wedding magazines.

"Oh, Celeste, darling! Draco's family is already talking about a summer wedding!" Her mother's face beamed with joy.

"Summer? That's only a few months away!" Celeste protested, gripping the magazine.

"Well, you wouldn't want to keep him waiting, would you?" Her mother winked. "He's such a catch, after all."

"Maybe for someone else," Celeste whispered, but her mother wasn't listening.

At Seraphina's Home

Seraphina found herself cornered by her father in his study, his gaze firm.

"Lorenzo's family wants to move quickly with the arrangements," he stated, tapping his fingers on the desk. "You should be honored. A family like his? It's the perfect alliance."

"Dad, I... I don't think I'm ready for this," she said quietly.

"Nonsense," he dismissed her concern with a wave of his hand. "You'll grow into the role. Love isn't always instant."

"Or real," she muttered, barely loud enough for him to hear.

"What was that?"

"Nothing," Seraphina replied, resigned.

At Amara's Home

"Amara!" Her mother's voice floated through the house, thick with excitement. "Blaise's mother and I have started planning the engagement dinner."

"Engagement?" Amara's voice came out sharper than she intended. "Already?"

"Of course! You'll make a beautiful couple." Her mother's eyes shone. "And Blaise is such a fine young man."

"I never asked for any of this," Amara replied, her tone defiant.

Her mother sighed, patting her hand. "Oh, Amara, you'll see. One day, you'll thank me for this.

At Vivienne's Home

Vivienne's family couldn't contain their excitement. Her mother held up a card with a date scrawled on it.

"Look! We've already chosen the date with Theo's family!" her mother announced proudly.

"Two weeks from now?" Vivienne gasped, staring at the card. "That's so soon!"

"Why delay happiness?" her mother said, brushing aside her objections. "Theo's family is thrilled."

"But... Mum, I'm not," Vivienne whispered, her voice trembling.

"Oh, you'll come around," her mother replied with a dismissive smile. "Everyone does."

Later that Evening – The Park

The girls met under the cover of dusk, the weight of their new realities pressing down on each of them.

"This is insane," Celeste muttered, kicking at the gravel. "It's like... it's like they're all just ignoring how we feel."

"They are," Seraphina replied. "They don't see us. They just see these... alliances."

Vivienne crossed her arms, her eyes blazing. "I'm not going to be some pawn in their game. There has to be a way out."

"Out?" Amara scoffed bitterly. "We tried to run, remember? It didn't work. They won't let us."

"But maybe we can change things from the inside," Lysandra said, her voice calm but determined. "If they won't let us go, then we have to set our own terms.

Celeste frowned. "And what do you propose? That we play along?

Vivienne crossed her arms, " what if we give them what they want?"

The others stared at her, startled. Celeste frowned, leaning in. "What do you mean?"

"We play along," Vivienne explained,  "Make them think we're falling for them, give them just enough. If they're so obsessed with us, we can use that to our advantage."

Amara raised an eyebrow,"Play along? So they think they're winning?"

"Exactly," Vivienne continued. "They've been so eager for us to be theirs... Let's make them work for it. Make them prove they deserve it."

Lysandra considered this, her mind whirling with the implications. "And if they think they're getting what they want, they'll loosen their grip. We might get a little freedom."

Seraphina's lips curled into a grin. "And we'll finally be the ones calling the shots."
