"Our girls are growing up so fast," said Caroline. "Yes," said Charles, caressing Caroline's still flat stomach, "they surely are, and soon... our baby will be here and running around with the girls in no time." Caroline smiled and laughed, and then was suddenly overtaken by another dizzy spell and the urge to go to sleep. "I'm so tired, but I need to stay awake," said Caroline. Charles replied, "That's right. Let's talk about... ummm— oh, I know, what is the hardest thing you ever had to do?" "What is the hardest thing I ever had to do," asked Caroline. Charles nodded. Caroline said, "That would have to be the time when I had to consider cutting my leg off after I got an infection."
