The next day was an exciting one for the Ingalls family, for both Caroline and Jake were given the all-clear to go home. "Welcome home, Jake," said Caroline as they pulled up to the front of their house. Charles dismounted from the wagon and proceeded to help Hannah, Mary, Laura, Carrie, and Baby Grace out of the back of the wagon. "May I hold Jake, Ma," asked Hannah. "Certainly," Caroline replied, lowering Jake into Hannah's arms. "Can I go next," inquired Carrie. Caroline nodded. "Then can I hold him," said Laura. "And then me," asked Mary. Again, Caroline nodded. Hannah said, taking Jake over by the house. "Well, Jake, welcome to our house. This is where you're going to live and grow up. Like Ma once said, it's not much, but it's a house that will keep you warm and dry and that is full of a lot of love." Charles and Caroline smiled as the girls went inside the house to give Jake a tour of their house. "Caroline," said Charles. Caroline replied, turning towards Charles, "Hmmm." "Thank you," said Charles, kissing his wife. Caroline asked, "Thank me? For what?" Charles replied, "Thank you for our handsome son, for our five beautiful girls, and for putting up with me and loving me. I love you more than life itself, Caroline Ingalls." Caroline said, kissing her husband, "Oh, Charles Ingalls, I love you more than anything in the world." Charles smiled.

(V.O.: Laura) "If I had a remembrance book, I'd write down that this was truly the best day ever."
