Henry
I couldn't believe what she was sayingto me.
"You're...you think you did this tohim?"
"Yes.." she trembled, "I feellike I pushed him into your territory."
"You didn't," I said, not believingthat I wanted to comfort her, "Molly, this wasn't you fault."
She didn't want to hear it and I didn'twant to say it because I wanted to hate her, but I didn't.
Not how she felt wrapped around me, nothow she had feelings for me—not when I knew about the fishing...
"Our first kiss.."
"I want you to kiss me like thatagain," she admitted, "Whenever you remember me."
I stared at her for a moment.
She was beautiful.
She'd always been, though—even hersoul was untouched, unscathed by the evils of the world.
I was her monster.
Molly
"Why are you looking at me likethat?"
He didn't answer me right away—hejust moved closer to me.
I shifted, slightly, "Henry, I'mnot,-"
"As much as I wanted to fuck you,"he interrupted, "I would rather hold you right now."
His tenderness threw me off, but Iallowed it—I needed it.
He was my mate, after all. I cravedthat side of him, the side I knew.
"Don't fret over Devin," hewhispered as I let him hold me close, "I don't ever want youbelieving bullshit lies about yourself."
"Then tell me why you can't rememberanything?"
"I think that cave has something todo with it."
"The witches?"
"Most definitely.."
We lay in silence for a while. Ilistened to his heartbeat before drifting off to sleep, knowing hewas watching over me.
Henry
We had eyes on us and I had my eyes onher.
Whatever it was between us, we neededto be on the same page.
Molly knew for some reason danger wasupon us and I needed to figure out why.
I linked my friend, Rupert, whopromised to get back to me on any information he could find.
Could I even trust him?
I guess I had to.
When night fell and the two of us grewhungry, we ate some leftovers by the fire and talked about thefuture.
"Do we have one?"
"I am sure we do," I lied. I wasn'tsure of anything anymore.
Rupert had linked me again saying myfamily had taken a nice little trip to the caves earlier in theweek—before we were married.
They hadn't told me about it.
They'd been adamant they were going tofight off some rogue orcs who were tearing up our crops just forkicks.
Was my family in on my demise?
Our demise?
Molly
When he told me about what Rupert said,I didn't doubt it.
"Have you spoken with your family?"
"No, I haven't," I told him, "I'vebeen scared to. I don't want them to be the enemy."
I didn't want my best friend, Lori, tobe the enemy.
I was mated to my enemy already.
"We're going to go back to thecaves.."
"We?"
"Not you."
"Fuck you, Henry. I'm not letting yougo alone."
"I can't lose you. You have a wholelife ahead of you,-"
"Ahead of US," I told him, "Whereyou go, I go..."
