"Really? You can't even give me one little hint?"

Winter grabbed his wife's hand as they sat on the back deck of their rented cabin, enjoying their coffee together in peace as they waited for their daughter to wake up. 

"Nope."

Autumn answered swiftly as she looked out upon the rolling countryside. Winter, though, was enthralled by a different view. It didn't matter how picturesque the scenery was, he would always choose to look at her. Especially when she looked this relaxed, this peaceful. He truly couldn't think of any sight that could be more breathtaking than his gorgeous wife completely at ease on holiday. 

Before Rose came along, Winter and Autumn spent all their free time traveling. Any long weekend or anytime they were feeling a little burnt out the couple would put in for annual leave and go explore somewhere new. Sometimes they went somewhere exotic, sometimes they just traveled a few towns over. The location didn't matter; all that mattered was they were together and away from the prying eyes of parents who wanted to get any information about their relationship.

When they had Rose those spontaneous weekend trips came to an end. It was much harder to just disappear for a weekend with a baby. As exciting as their get aways were, they both agreed that life with Rose was even more exiting. So as they settled in to life as a family of three they decided not to add in the stress of travelling too far out of town. They'd take day trips to museums or a short car ride down the coast but that was really it. But now that she was a little older they decided it was finally time to take a trip with their little girl.

Picking a location for their first family holiday was easy. Even though the couple had visited exotic locations and stayed at amazing resorts their favorite trip had never changed. Their very first holiday together to the Lake District was hard to beat; it was the weekend that changed their lives forever, when they realized they had fallen for each other and had no intention of stopping. They'd returned quite a few times throughout their relationship, including just after they found out they were expecting. That whole trip was spent dreaming of the day they would return with their baby; and now that day had finally come. 

Winter ran his thumb over Autumn's knuckles, finally drawing her attention to his overexaggerated pouty face. Just as he was about to pester her again they were interrupted by the gentle sounds of their daughter stirring through the baby monitor.

"MAMA! PAPA! UP!"

Both of them dropped their heads, amused, as they listened to their daughter repeatedly calling out to them.

"You know, my sweet? I think Rose might be awake."

Autumn quickly got out of her chair, giving Winter a sweet kiss on the cheek as she started to head inside. Before she could get too far, though, Winter caught her hand and pulled her back into a more passionate kiss. As they pulled apart he felt Autumn relax into him, her head resting comfortably on his chest; the contented sigh that fell from her lips was music to his ears.

"So about that hint?"

She gave him a playful shove as she broke from his embrace. Winter's eyes stayed locked on her as she walked away. Autumn gave a final quick look over her shoulder before she disappeared through the door knowing that she'd catch him staring. She couldn't believe that after all these years Winter was still looking at her with so much love in her eyes.
