Hawks rhythmically taps his pen against the papers littering his desk, the form in front of him half filled out. He's always hated this portion of hero work, and would much rather be out there in the streets on patrol than looking at a stack of incident forms, but there was only so much he could pawn off to his sidekicks.
Lately, he's been finding it really hard to concentrate as it is. He desperately tries to recall the villain attack from last week, when a guy with sticky tentacles for fingers went on a purse snatching spree, but his mind keeps wandering. Even his handler mentioned how distracted he seemed at their weekly check-in, and nothing good could come from catching that kind of attention from the Commission.
He glances at the clock, watching the hands slowly move. Too slowly. The late afternoon sun cuts through the office in rays, only a few soft wisps of clouds in the sky.
Perfect weather for flying .
The phone rings on his desk, and he presses the speaker button without glancing at the caller ID. "Hawks speaking." He slams the now completed form on top of the noticeably smaller stack of 'done' paperwork before grabbing another.
"Sir, there's a man here who's demanding to be let up. I told him he needed an appointment but - "
His receptionist is cut off by a snarky voice, the man on the other end quickly losing patience. The corners of Hawks mouth quirks up.
"You can send him up, Yuri. It's okay."
"A-are you sure?"
"Yep. I can handle him. Thank you."
Less than a minute later, his office door is being flung open, telling him Touya didn't actually wait until he got the okay to make his way up. He saunters in with a devilish smirk, clutching a take out bag in one hand.
"You causing trouble, firecracker?" he teases.
"I would never!" Touya proclaims, putting a hand to his heart in mock offense. "Honestly though, what's a guy gotta do to make it onto the VIP list, Birdy?"
Hawks smile grows exponentially wider as Touya rounds the desk, sets the takeout bag on top of the paperwork that still needs to be finished, and plops himself down on Hawks lap. The hero's arms encircle his waist as Touya threads his fingers in ash blond hair and pulls, just enough to tilt his head back for a chaste kiss.
Ever since their date last week at the botanical garden, Touya has been...different. Less inhibited, more energetic, dare he say...happier? Definitely a lot bolder and physically demanding, stealing kisses and light touches whenever and wherever possible. It's like a weight has been lifted, a door opened, and the real Touya has started to make himself known. It was intoxicating, the way he almost bloomed, no pun intended, in the last seven days.
It felt like he was finally allowing himself to maybe even trust the hero a bit. Not completely - he still shied away from any topic involving Shouto, and he wouldn't allow Hawks anywhere near his brother, but it was a start. It was something , and Hawks was clinging onto that something like it was a life preserver in the middle of an endless ocean.
"My apologies, baby. I'll make sure that gets fixed right away."
"Good." He grins smugly at the hero, like the spoiled little brat he is. Like he knows Hawks can't, and won't, deny him a single thing as long as it's within his power. Touya dips down again and kisses him, slowly this time, savoring. It's enough to make Hawks head spin.
Hawks hums in contentment. "You're early, by the way."
Touya tilts his head towards the bag sitting on his desk. "I had to make sure you actually fucking eat something since you're so dogshit at taking care of yourself."
