We Are All Dragons

Lloyd's POV...

Following the former Teen Protection Force felt weird. Maybe it's because they're children, or maybe it's because every time I look at Y/n, she looks at me like I don't exist, or I've not tried to mend what we had by occupying my time training Arin. 

"All clear." The leader of the former Teen Protection Force said. "Come on, our secret HQ is close by. Stick to the shadows."

"Sticking to the shadows is one thing ninjas do best," I informed him. With that the kid turned around and began to run, sticking to the shadows as the rest of us tried to keep up. I resisted the urge to look back at Y/n. Otherwise, I may try to talk to her when now isn't the time.

Arin got in front right up close to the kid leading us and said to him. "It's kind of weirding me out how we're on the same side now Percival." I couldn't believe his name was Percival. It's a mouthful.

"I can imagine. But just think of it like when an Earth Dragon builds a nest with an Ice Dragon. Nothing is stronger." It kind of made sense but at the same time highly unlikely. 

"Since when do you know stuff about dragons?" Arin pressed, "All you used to care about was joining the Claws to hunt them."

"A lot happened since we last saw each other, Lampshade." Uh-

"Oh uh, you can call me Arin." 

I heard off-key singing, it was Wyldfyre. Oddly, that seemed pretty in character for her. But now wasn't the time. "Bum-ba-bum, bum, bum-bum-bum, bum-ba-ba-bum- Oh..." 

"Kai, can you please?" I asked pointing at her.

"Of course." He almost sounded like a tired dad for a second. But I guess with these kids kind of been our new normal. Kai stepped up to Wyldfyre, "Wyldfyre, this is a stealth mission. So the theme would go more like... Da-da-da, da-da-da-da." I glanced at Y/n. She was amused by this, I think.

"Oh yeah, I got it," Wyldfyre said, agreeing with Kai. 

"Da-da-da, da-da-da-da." They quietly sang together.

I signed, "I forgot theirs two of them now."

I heard a soft laugh and looked towards Y/n. "At least they aren't fighting." I almost sagged in relief that she said something to me. Maybe this is the start of us trying again. Man, I hope so. If I ever get a chance with her again, I'll do it right. I turned and followed the others as Kai and Wyldfyre slowly followed, singing. 

"When we were flying to Imperium, we saw a massive explosion. did you see it too?" I asked Percival. "It looked like Dragon Core Energy."

Percival shrugged, "Who didn't see it? It came from the Advanced Systems Lab. That's where you'll find your core, but first, we gotta get to our base and out of sight of the guards. The entrance to the tunnel is right around..."

A meck landed in front of us, the Empress driving it as a few of her cronies appeared with her.

Y/n's POV...

Why can't we ever get a break? "Imperium citizens siding with the ninja? Traitors! You will be executed for your treason! And you, ninja? How dare you invade my kingdom? How foolish can you be?" Ah, the evil quote of you'll regret this, classic.

"Ah, you have no idea how foolish some of us can be, no offense Lloyd," Kai said. I would laugh if the situation wasn't serious. 

"Your sad ninja training. Your pathetic elemental powers. They are nothing compared to my power. Attack!" More guards came out and started shooting at us. We all jumped aside and Zane shot ice at the Empress.
