Today was not just another day
Today, I was faced with a harsh reality
The people I've come face to face with don't care
They never have and never will
They'll shake your hand
They'll laugh with you
But that was when you were kids
Today, they don't care
It's a truth I refused to tell myself
One I wish to hide
I know humanity is inherently selfish
But today, I learned they don't care
As my pin drags across this paper
My eyes filled with tears
I look to the sky and send a prayer
"Please take all my fears,"
All I ask is for you to care
