The days blurred together in a haze of whispers and shadows. Lyra barely slept, the voice pressing into her mind, louder, more insistent, as though it were drawing her into its world. Finally, she returned to the theater, her body heavy with exhaustion and dread. She moved through the empty halls, the air thick and oppressive. In the dressing room, she stood before the cracked mirror, her red dress clinging to her like a second skin.
"Show yourself," she whispered, her voice trembling.
For a moment, there was only silence. Then, the whisper returned, no longer soft but a scream—a piercing, blood-curdling scream that forced her to her knees. The lights flickered, and in the mirror, the woman in red appeared, her hollow eyes filled with despair.
The woman reached out, and Lyra understood. She wanted Lyra to take her place, to carry her curse. Lyra felt a pull, dragging her toward the mirror, into the darkness.
She opened her mouth to scream, but only a whisper escaped. "Hush."
In that moment, the room seemed to shift, and Lyra felt the weight of the world pressing down on her. She had to decide: Would she take the woman's place, or fight to escape this haunting legacy?
