Alaric glanced down at the woman sleeping peacefully in his bed. Throughout the night, she had wrapped herself around him, stealing his body heat and forcing him to cuddle, though, he didn't mind much. Now, her thin arms were wrapped tightly around a body pillow he'd gotten for this reason exactly. Her curly black hair was splayed along their pillows, and he was sure it'd be a tangled mess when she did finally wake up. He was relieved he had to go be a damn teacher instead of staying here, she was pretty tender headed after all. He still hadn't told her about the vampires running around in Mystic Falls. He'd been teaching at Mystic Falls High for nearly a month now. He'd somewhat befriended Elena, the doppelganger, and apparently she'd had two vampire brothers. He had told them as much as he trusted them with. Where he'd found her, why he'd taken her, and why she was the way she was.
He'd told them how he rescued her from a group of vampires. She was a hostage of sorts, a blood bag really. He figured it might've been sweet blood. She was more than soft spoken, she was like a being filled with unriddled anxiety. Always worrying, whispering, afraid she'd upset someone, make them leave her... He'd gotten her evaluated and she was diagnosed with a dependent personality disorder, making Alaric her new Dependent. It was rough, at first. She was a grown woman, twenty five years old, but had to be treated almost like a child. In the beginning she'd cry whenever he tried to leave without her, she cried if she woke up alone, she swore up and down that Alaric hated her when she'd woken him up early by accident one day. It was hard leaving her alone, but it was good for her. He stared at her sleeping form until he was out of his apartment and the door was closed behind him.
Around two in the afternoon is when she finally decided to wake up. It was almost like her body knew Alaric wasn't with her. When she finally did awaken, her head popped off her pillow quick, her curls slightly fuzzed and some sticking out in random spots. Her eyes, multicolored with lovely shades of blue in one eye and vibrant shades of green in the other, went over the bed as if searching. When she didn't find Alaric in sight, her plump bottom lip jutted out and wobbled slightly in a shaky pout. She knew he had to work to make a living, pay rent and stuff. But she hated waking up without him. She took a moment to stretch, then sat up on the bed and looked around squinting. 'I don't like practicing being alone.' She grumbled to herself, throwing the large comforter off of herself and sliding out of bed. She'd only gone to bed in one of Ric's shirts and some panties, of course. So when her bare feet touched the cold floor, she had to stop herself from squealing in surprise.
She didn't even bother looking at the time, she never did. She always sauntered to the kitchen first thing when she woke up, even Alaric knew this. She was shorter than the average human, here at least. At a solid 5'0 with shoes on. She was extremely proud of the inch her shoes always gave her. She carried a chair over from the dining table and placed it right in front of the fridge, then climbed on the chair, getting a clear reach for the food on top of the fridge. Usually she starved herself until Ric came back from whatever he was up to, but today, she felt like having a snack, and all of the good ones were on top of the fridge. Fruit snacks, chips, and her favorite cereals.
"I don't think you're allowed to climb on that." A semi deep voice said from behind her. She didn't stop herself this time, a long scream escaped her. She unconsciously flailed her hands for a second before jumping off of the chair, nearly toppling over. She didn't bother checking who it was, she only tried taking off. Only, when she almost fell over, their arm had found it's way around her waist, and now she was screaming at the top of her lungs, sobbing and smacking at their arm with as much force as she could muster, which wasn't much.
