Half-Buried

"there are some factors to consider if we're gonna make this work," brittany said, as she scanned the room. "i need every single one of you fully committed."
"we've got a solid promo and an incredible cast," one of the producers added, gesturing to gabriella and glenn. at his words, the rest of the team began to applaud. "this film has massive potential if we handle it the right way," he continued.
"i think the story's got real depth," glenn said thoughtfully, leaning back in his chair. "honestly, you couldn't have found a better fit than gabriella to bring riley to life."
"thank you, ethan," gabriella said with a grin, giving him a playful look that made the team chuckle.
"and let's not forget the chemistry you two already have," brittany chimed in, glancing between gabriella and glenn. "it's exactly what the audience will feel."
another producer nodded, adding, "we're going for something better here—something that's more than just a romance. we want to see the grit in the emotions,"
"well, that's where gabriella and i come in," glenn smirked, raising an eyebrow in her direction. "we'll bring the fire."
gabriella laughed,"absolutely."
"by the way, we already got a sneak peek of the first episode of conversation with friends," brittany said, grinning. "and, gabriella, those scenes with charlotte lawrence—just, wow. the intensity, the chemistry—it's all there."
gabriella felt her cheeks warm, but she managed a smile. "thank you. charlotte and i really worked to make those moments feel genuine. it's always a little nerve-wracking to film those kinds of scenes, but she's such a professional, and we both just wanted to do the story justice."
another producer leaned in, nodding. "there was this authenticity that really came through. those scenes didn't feel forced or, you know, like they were just there to grab attention. it felt... intimate, but in a way that served the characters."
glenn laughed, crossing his arms as he looked at gabriella. "i think the real question is, are you bringing that same energy to parachute?"
"don't worry. i'll bring it," gabriella shot back. "i'm all in for this one." she glanced at glenn, raising an eyebrow, "you've got to keep up, too."
he held up his hands, feigning innocence. "oh, i'm ready. no holding back on my end, promise."
"well, we're here to support that," brittany cut in, laughing. "the more genuine, the better. people respond to authenticity, and that's exactly what we want with this film."
"alright," one of the producers said, glancing at his phone. "looks like we've run over by about an hour, so let's wrap this up. thank you all for sticking around—see you on monday to kick off filming."
gabriella gathered her things and slipped her purse over her shoulder, weaving through the group with quick goodbyes and a few friendly smiles. stepping outside, she took a deep breath, she made her way to her car, the quiet was broken by hurried footsteps behind her.
"gabriella, wait up!" glenn called, jogging to catch up.
she turned, surprised, raising an eyebrow as he approached. "oh, hey. something on your mind?"
he grinned, a bit out of breath. "hey, nice benz," he said, admiring her car with an appreciative look.
"thank you," she laughed softly. "it's new, just got it last week. i'm still figuring out half the buttons."
