Chapter Four: Meeting the Pack

The sun shined through the cabins windows in beams through the shiny white curtains. My eyes fluttered open lazily and I stiffened as I felt someone next to me. The loud snoring reminded me that it was only Mike and I smiled as I rolled over so I could see him. I laid my head on his chest and his eyes fluttered open slowly. He lazily rolled his head towards me and smiled a tired smile.

“Good morning beautiful, how did you sleep?” He said softly and I leaned closed towards him and kissed him softly.

“Perfect. And you?” I asked and he laughed a rich deep throaty laugh.

“I slept great.” He said and rolled on top of me. He had moved so fast that it startled me and I threw him across the room, my eyes and teeth turning into that of my wolf. I cursed silently as he hit the wall with a sickening thud. He groaned as he slid to the floor.

“Ohmigod! I am so sorry!!” I yelled and was at his side in an instant. He looked like he was in immense pain and tears filled my eyes.

“Baby are you ok?” I asked softly as the first tears fell from my eyes. He slowly lifted a hand and wiped them away with his thumb. I leaned into his hand and he smiled.

“I’ll be fine in a sec Soph.” He said softly and I could hear the bones shifting back into place. As soon as he was healed he pulled me into a hug and kissed the top of my head.

“Soph I am fine, don’t cry.” He said softly, rubbing circles on my back.

“I----I h--h--urt you! I sobbed and he laughed gently.

“Soph you’re the alpha, if I hadn’t been thrown cross the room I would have been surprised. Its early and I surprised you. It’s OK” He said lifting my chin so I was looking into his gorgeous blue eyes.

“I love you” I said softly and he smiled a dazzling smile.

“I love you too Soph.” he said softly and pulled me close and kissed me. The kiss started off soft and sweet but soon I was sitting in his lap and very aware for the first time that I did not have any cloths on. I blushed and pulled back.

“I’m going to go…. The pack will be curious as to my whereabouts…… Come to think of it you should get dressed and come along.” I said scurrying around the house finding my clothes and slipping them on. Somehow my bra had ended up behind the bed and my eyebrows furrowed in confusion. He chuckled behind me and I could hear him putting on clothes. I caught sight of myself in the mirror and I froze. Every mated pair has a similar mark that appears on both of them but only soul mates have the mark that appeared on my ankle. It was a silver crescent moon on the inside of my left ankle.

“Mike” I whispered, startled. We were the first wolves to find their soul mates in over a century. He came to my side instantly and I saw the same mark behind his right ear. He froze for a split second and then I was in his arms as he kissed any part of my body that he could reach.

“I knew it!” He cheered and spun me around the room. I laughed and jumped from his arms.

“Mike we really do need to go……” I said softly. My eyes flicked back and forth nervously from the rising sun to Mike and he just shook his head as he laughed.

“Ok, come on.” He said softly and I smiled. I stretched and jogged out the door, not yet shifting.

“Sophie!” I heard one of my pack members yell and suddenly I was pinned to the ground. I laughed as I realized that it was Mikes little sister, Nina. She ran in circles around me and shifted into her wolf mid-circle. I was a bit surprised to see that her wolf had grown into an adult.

“It was your thirtieth wasn’t it?” I said and she barked and nodded. I laughed and she laid on the ground, her eyes trained on my ankle that I had tried, and failed, to cover up.

“Nina…. You never saw that ok?” I said and she barked to tell me yes. I sighed and turned into my wolf quickly. I took a deep breath and let out a howl. It was a specific howl, calling everyone to a pack meeting where I was. Mike, now a wolf, brushed against me and I saw that the mark was still there even after the change and I cursed silently. I laid down and put my head on my front paws, hiding the mark. Mike laid next to me and I bit at his ear playfully as we waited for the other pack members.
