Chapter 7.2: {Star and Moon}: Forget it All

The star had lost his shine again. He was again being an ordinary human, laying on his bed and stressing about things.

Joe told him to not go to the bar. Did that mean he just forbade him to see Joe? Because the bar was pretty much the only place where Jimbae would have met him. Was there something wrong with that bar? It seemed totally fine to Jimbae.

He thought about it more and more and the only thing that popped in his mind was Joe's face. The way he looked at him, the way he came closer, the way he opened his mouth, the way he spoke to him, it was so gentle. Jimbae hadn't thought of Joe to be that gentle and warm.

It took up space in Jimbae's head like he knew the man for years but he had only talked to him twice in his whole school years. That too, half of the time they talked was because of the plan of the blacklist gang.

In the end, Jimbae decided that he couldn't stay away from the hot senior. He had gotten somehow attached to him and he didn't want to let him go.

Jimbae didn't know what he was feeling. But all of a sudden, the minute he saw Joe's face, all he could remember was him, as if no one else existed in the world anymore. He started to want to get closer to the man, get to know him better but he had no idea how it had all turned into a simple one night stand. Maybe for Joe, it was simple. But for Jimbae, it wasn't.

Jimbae ended up deciding to go to the bar, despite Joe's request. If the one requesting him to not go to the bar was someone else than Joe, then Jimbae might have gotten scared and followed the request. But because the requestor was Joe, he couldn't help but see it as a challenge. It made him want to go to the bar even more.

Jimbae slowly got up from his bed and checked the time. It was around 8. He walked out of his room and turned to his pa, “Pa, I'll be late tonight. Don't wait for me,” he yelled.

“Okay. Have fun and be careful,” Tian yelled back as he saw Jimbae put on his shoes. Many people wondered why Tian didn't have any problem with his son going to bars but he didn't mind them. He trusted Jimbae and he also believed that Jimbae was smart enough not to be deceived. Though as a parent, he was obviously worried, but he wouldn't have let that worry ban his son's freedom.

Jimbae stepped out of the house and immediately found a cab.

It had been about a few days since Carrot moved into her apartment with her roommate. The apartment was nothing unusual or surprising. It was a medium sized room with a bathroom, a kitchen and a bunk bed.

As for her roommate, it turned out to be the most boring person ever. Her name was Pun, a nerdy, sweet little girl, a year younger than Carrot. The girl barely talked and when she did, it was either about math or her complaining about her previous roommates who kept touching her stuff. She moved to Bangkok a year ago from Kanchanaburi.

In school though, she had luckily gotten a few classmates who were also from Chiang Mai and kind of bonded with them. But what she found more interesting was that the girl that kind of talked to her the other day on the train was also studying in the same university in her class. As expected, she was very talkative there too.

It had only been a few days since the semester started yet the girl had made so many friends. Almost everyone in class knew who she was. Apparently, her name is Hanah. And it's said that she left her last school.

Whenever Hanah wouldn't be in school, the main gossip topic around the class would be about her. Carrot didn't really believe in them but there was gossip around saying that Hanah was lying about leaving her previous school and that she was expelled from the school because of very bad reasons.

Hanah’s own so-called new friends spread that gossip. That's why, Carrot mostly preferred staying on her own than having friends like those people. Her past is her past. Carrot didn't understand why those people were trying so hard to dig up that old story, it didn't matter whether it's true or not.

Jimbae stepped in front of the bar. It wasn't very crowded even though it was a free Sunday night. It was unexpected for him.

Jimbae barged in. Last time, he coincidentally found familiar faces but this time, there was no luck for him.

He walked inside and sat on a stool in front of the table, ordering a drink. At that point, Jimbae didn't know what he was doing. He was looking for a man who was his senior in high school, who he had talked to only a few times, who he barely knew, who he had a one night stand with and apparently who he told to stay away from himself.

It appeared fairly odd that Jimbae was the one who declared that it was just a one night stand yet here he was, luring after that man like a shadow. Was he just trying to seek a replacement for Carrot? He didn't understand himself. Why was he even after that man? Why was he even at the bar?

But after a few shots in, Jimbae got the answer. He didn't care. He didn't care why he was doing all of that. He just wanted to forget all of that. Forget about the imaginary heartbreak, forget about all that, forget about Joe, forget about the confusion, the dilemma. He just wanted to run away, far from life where he wouldn't have to think about anything.

Shots after shots, Jimbae kept gulping. He wanted to forget and disappear. He wanted to be totally free, to not care about anything.

Joe just walked up front and saw the same familiar face. Jimbae was at the bar despite his request. Joe sighed, staring at the man who was gulping shots after shots. A bit later, Joe understood how drunk he was when Jimbae laid his head on the table and couldn't even pick up the glass properly.

Before Joe could run to see if he was okay, Jimbae felt an unfamiliar hand on his half exposed shoulder, his jacket hanging down. Jimbae lifted his hand and saw a very unfamiliar face blurrily. “Are you okay?” The man lifted Jimbae's head with his hands slowly. “I'm Tip.”
