Chapter 12

I wake up to the sound of Hunters voice and I nearly bang right into him as I jolt up in my seat. I look around to find we're parked at what looks to be a sleazy motel. "What... what's going on?" I ask groggily. "You dozed off for a few minutes. I wasn't going to wake you but I have to go check us in." He says and I nod as he shuts the car off. "Just stay here and I'll be right back." Hunter reassures me before he shuts the door to leave me alone. Moments pass as I watch the cars speed by and soon I'm drifting back into a hazy sleep. The loud sound of a overpowered engine startles me and when my eyes finally adjust to the late afternoon light, I catch a glimpse of a familiar black car off in the distance. As it gets closer I realize it can be none other than Derek's car, but before I can look away he makes eye contact with me through the darkened windows. Panicking and completely caught off guard, I quickly duck, even though I know its to late. There's no doubt in my mind that he saw me but there's still a good chance he might not of recognize me. Since moving away I had darkened the colour of my hair and cut it shorter, to stay hidden.  I don't want to take the chance of looking again in case he decides to take another look around, so I stay in that position until Hunter comes back with the room key. He grabs our bags from the back, as I step out into the cool autumn breeze. It's a easy enough movement but I'm having difficulty standing and I'm barely able to grab onto the side of the car for support before I go tumbling forwards. Hunter drops the bags to come help me and I try to protest but I can't seem to find the words. "It's ok, I got you." Hunter whispers as he lifts me up into his arms. What feels like seconds later, I feel a soft mattress under me as he lays me gently down on the bed. I go to get up but Hunter stops me. "Just get some sleep." He says with a demanding tone and on a regular day I would object but this time I was too tired. The minute after I close my eyes, I can feel myself dozing off.

Later when I wake up I expect to feel better and energized but instead I'm feel even worse then before, to tired and weak to even move. I can hear Hunter watching tv beside me and I moan to get his attention. He immediately responds, already standing at my side. "Hey sunshine, how you feeling?" he say sarcastically and I manage to groan. "I'm good." I finally say trying my best to crack a smile. "Bull crap, your sick aren't you?" he says and I shake my head in protest. "I told you I'm fine, besides werewolves cant get sick. Its against our healing nature." I tell him but it doesn't seem to shake the worry off his face. He throws me off a little when he puts his hand on my forehead and quickly pulls away like he had been burned. "Lucy your burning up and your as pale as a ghost. You can't tell me that's normal. So If your not sick then what are you exactly?" that's the age old question. "Maybe this is the start of what happened to your sister. Maybe this is just the transition into becoming a monster." I say but Hunter doesn't seem to like this answer. "Your clearly sick and delusional. Which is why I'm taking you to the hospital." he says getting up from the bed and I flinch at the sound of the squeaky bed springs. Not only do I feel weak and defenseless but it seems everything is so loud and bright, its unbearable. I feel like my senses are playing against me. I also know though, that if he does take me to the hospital there's a good chance Scott's mom would recognize me, if she was on a shift. "Can't you see that's dangerous, what if they see me heal?" I ask because I know its a good point. "But your not healing and that's what's starting to scare me." He says raising his voice. "Just let me sleep for a little bit longer and I'll be fine." I finally say and even though Hunter looks reluctant at first. He gives up eventually and leaves me to my peace.

Well as peaceful as my nightmares good get. The dream starts off relatively normal as I walk through the reserve. But something's different about the place I had learned to survive in. The usually dark scene was replaced by a brightly lit sky, and trees that glow and sparkle in the wind like something out of a fairy tale. But even I know, not all Fairy tales have a happy ending. The calm and peaceful place seems too bright and to beautiful. Almost as if the place was warning me that something was coming. It was the calm before the storm. Soon after the realization, hunters surround me as they come prepared and armed to the teeth in weapons. I try to run but my feet wont move and I stand there helplessly as they close in on their target. I feel the burning silver as it scolds my body everywhere it touches and the wolfsbane poison starts to kick in. I can see blood everywhere and from the pain cursing through me, I know its mine. I can feel my hand burning and I cant help but scream as Britney laughs somewhere off in the background. "Lucy! Lucy wake up!" Hunter yells and I snap back to life as he holds me by the shoulders. But I don't stop screaming because where Hunter was suppose to be standing, I saw just another deadly killer from my dreams. I could still feel the knife cutting at me. "Stop screaming." the hunter yells in what was Hunter's voice. He pulls the cover away to reveal blood everywhere, as it flows from the wound in my hand. "I thought you told me she barely cut you." he says alarmed but I don't answer. I thrash and kick at him as he tries to pick me up even though I know I'm outmatched and soon I wear myself out. The stranger continues to carry me out the front door and towards his car. This sends a all new kind of fear through me and I begin struggling to get free from his iron grasp. As a last resort I do the only thing I can. I feel my teeth lengthen into canines and I bite down hard on the man's wrist. He yelps in pain before dropping me onto the hard grown and my head spins as I hit it off the concrete. "What the hell, did you just bite me?" Hunter yells and I look up to find its really him this time. "Hunter where did he go?" I ask to disoriented to understand what was going on. "He who?" he says clearly confused but doesn't wait for my answer as he looks down at the deep cut on my hand ,that was spilling blood at a alarming rate. "We need to get you help." he says as he attempts to help me up from off the ground. To busy with my own struggles I barely notice the tall, dark figure step out of a familiar black car from across the parking lot and move towards us. "Lucy?" a deep voice says and I look up to meet the translucent, green eye's of Derek Hale for the second time in one day.
