Chapter 32

Aiden. What the hell was he doing here? It had been months since I had seen him back, and I could almost guarantee he hadn't come alone. He gives me one more look over before the light turns green and he speeds down the highway. "Stiles, we need to go now. Follow that motorcycle!" I yell and even with little information Stiles has, he doesn't question me, only presses down on the gas petal. The Jeep jolts forward throwing my body into the seat belt. Soon enough we've caught on to the shining bike as it stands out in a sea of vehicles. "Lucy, when exactly were you going to tell me the twins were back in town?" He asks clearly noticing who was behind the helmet. "I didn't know until now. You don't think the whole pack is back do you?" I question although Stiles is just as clueless as me on the subject. "Kali and Ennis could have easily followed but without Deucalion we just assumed their alpha pack would fall apart." Which still didn't answer why they were back. Why they had waited this long to make their debut. If Aiden wanted me to know he was back, the alpha pack wanted to me to know. I cant help but feel like we were falling right into another trap but I wasn't going to let the only lead I had in months slip away just like they did after I killed Deucalion. "We need answers."

We trail Aiden into the parking lot of what seems to be a ordinary, upscale apartment building. "Am I not the only one that finds this strange?" Stiles asks as he shuts the ignition off. "The fact that there's no broken windows, abandoned rooms, dark alleys. Then yes, it's very unsettling." Everything about this place was wrong. It was no place for a pack of Alphas to hide. "Lucy, look over there." At first it looks like he's pointing at Aiden but as I follow the direction of his finger I realize he's pointing at a large, red SUV. "What about it? It just a van." I respond but he shakes his head in protest. "No, that's Mr. Argent's vehicle." He corrects me. "But I've seen Allison's house." It was a huge, two story building placed in a very high end part of the town. "While you were gone they moved. Allison said it was because the house had to many memories of her mother and what had happened." Scott had told me about her mother and how she had died. A werewolf hunter turn worst enemy. Just like Britney but she didn't try to change, instead she sacrificed herself for what she had believed was the greater good.

I can't say I don't feel sorry for her but Scott had told me it happened when Derek interrupted her trying to kill him. I couldn't feel sorry for someone that tried to kill my friends. "Why would they be living right under the hunters noses?" I ask to no one in particular. None of this was adding up. "Think about it, a recovering pack needed somewhere to stay where they know they could be protected. Who's better to do that then the hunters. Their safe as long as no one finds out where they are." Stiles had a point. Sometimes the best place you could hide was in plain sight. But it still didn't explain why they had come back. Beacon Hills was just one in the long line of werewolf populated towns, yet they came crawling back. The reason seemed simple, they wanted revenge.

"I'm going in." I state after various minutes pass of nothing but silence. "You can't just waltz in there. Not without some reasonable answers first." He argues but I'm already out the door and onto the hot assault. "I can't wait around while they sit in there and plot." I try to shut the door but Stiles throws his hand out to stop me. "Can we at least wait for Scott?" He asks with a pleading look. "I don't need Scott's help. I can do this on my own." I storm through the parking lot but even with the clomping of my boots against the parking lot ground, I can still hear Stiles sigh. "This isn't going to end well." He mumbles before grabbing the bat he considered to be a lethal weapon and following my lead into the building.

It's exactly what you would expect a apartment to look like. Rows and rows of rooms lining the hallway. "How are we suppose to know where their living?" He asks, eyes scanning the place for any signs of the pack. My ears perk up at the sound of Aiden's voice. "No, Kali no one saw me." He confirms my suspicions. They had all come back. "Are you sure. We have to be careful. If any of Derek's mangy mutts see us, we won't be able to stay hidden for long." She says offensively. "I don't know why you worry so much about them. The only person that poses as a relative threat is Lucy." A deep voice comes into the conversation and I recognize it has Ennis. "What are you hearing?" Stiles asks startling me. "Their talking about me." I whisper because surely if I can hear them, they can hear me. "What do we do now?" I know the safest plan would be to turn around and walk away. But something stops me from leaving. Maybe it was the red haze clouding my mind or the anger I felt towards them that pushed me forward. "Follow me and get your bat ready. I have a feeling your going to need it." I look back one last time to make sure Stiles has my back then I press the button for the elevator.
